Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Shams = Shamrock Rovers

    It's an insult that Sligo Rovers came up with because they don't like the fact that everyone knows us as Rovers and them as Sligo. Some other club's fans copied them and use the slur in an effort to troll Rovers fans. See above.

    Actually we didn't come up with it for that reason it's just that naturally we call our team Rovers so Shams would seem the natural alternative. I have no problem with people calling you lot Rovers seeing as there is no geographical area Shamrock . I've never seen it as an insult though but if you do then carry on :)

    Would you cop on im a Shamrock rovers fan and to brand all Rovers fans as scum is way out of order.Yeah we have a few idiots who support the club just like every team in the league.What happened on tuesday was blown out of all proportion by the media the incident took no more than 2 minutes befrore the stewards and garda forced the Rovers fans back towards the shed.To call it a riot is just laughable.Im not condoning what went on tuesday anyone identified as causing trouble should be banned.But to tar all Rovers fans with the same brush is a bit stupid.We are the best supported team in the country and have been for as long as i remember 99.9% of Rovers fans are genuine football fans who follow the team all over the country through thick and thin its that small few who give us a bad name.The small few who every club have yet clubs getting an average crowd of a couple of 100 are not going to make the same headlines as a team getting 4000/4500 every week.

    Thankfully this forum is moderated better than fool.ie so it's not an orgy of 'Shams' baiting and trolling.

    Indeed, the kids who ran down in front of you didn't start ****ing things into the crowd!

    Possibly because they weren't showered with missiles from the stand.

    Shelbourne = Shels
    St Patrick's Athletic = Pats
    Bohemian = Bohs
    Shamrock Rovers = Shams

    Simple.

    Listen, even when you's were moving from ground to ground with your sh!t support before the blown ins started aping about out in the council ground, you's were still acting like scum.

    It starts from the top down from your chairman and transcends into the fanbase.

    The worst thing apart from the scum behaviour is the head in the sand attitude of the fans. The excuses are just pathetic.

    Why would anyone be 'jealous' of Shams. They were still considered scum when they were travelling around like tinkers from ground to ground.

    If even people who don't care for football or only support English clubs and don't give a f*ck for the LOI, know what the Shams are, why would they have a 'grudge' against the club??

    The reason that Shams are detested is because of the fanbase.

    Yep, that's the usual attitude you's have alright. Everyone realises that. Don't the Millwall fans say the same?

    Deep down that hurts. All I've ever wanted is antiquated falling-apart ground to call our own - draining money away like shit down a jacks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

    Maybe not our own. Like if we were to own three-quarters of it, after selling one penalty area off then maybe sell the rest to another developer. And then flog the carpark.

    In fairness I think we went down to 900-1000 average just before left Tolka, Not bad at all considering the football on offer, the fact that we were well out of contention; homeless and playing on the Northside.

    I think monkey9 is trying to pick up more yellow cards than Pat Flynn

    You'd think that 49 years without the cup with soften the defeat, but apparently not :pac:
