Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

I'm looking to buy a turbo trainer mainly for the two or three hours i have to spare weeknights that are now too dark and coming in to winter will be far too dangerous if wet or icy. Can anyone recommend a specific model/brand?? ive no real budget yet, possibly between 100-300euro? any help would be much appreciated :)

Tacx Satori. Usually cheap from bike24.com

I got an elite crono gel (something like that) on Chainreactioncycles, think it was about €230, have no complaints at all... well happy with it...

Trainer tyre or an old tyre that is no longer road worthy will do. Using your good racing tyres on a turbo is an expensive habit, think lighting up your Cubans with a 50 euro note and you are on the right track.

Might even be worth your while getting a complete spare rear wheel. That way you wont have to change tyres every time you want to swap from indoor training to outdoor spins.

What would you recommend, magentic or gel trainers or what is the difference, I am also looking to purchase a turbo trainer

I went with the gel trainer myself. I cant really comment on the magnetic ones as I've never had one, but I can recommend the gel ones. The one I have has 2 settings (normal and more difficult setting) and the resistance you're working against depends on the gear you're in and how hard you're pedaling.
