Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i found myself at a religious festival the other day - last saturday in a small rural village in southern spain we were staying in. an interesting event - fireworks, beer, incantations and a brass band. most of the below was shot at 3200, f1.8.
the lighting was extremely contrasty; i had trouble with the statue they were carrying around on a bier because it was independently lit at the front, and i couldn't get anywhere close to an exposure which brought the statue out well exposed, as well as the festivalgoers.

i'm in two minds as to whether i'm happy with them or not.

From a first quick glance, I REALLY REALLY like 4th one with the silhouettey crowd, cracking shot that one! Too tired to provide any other feedback now, so that'll have to wait :o

cheers - here's the colour version, but i felt it was better keeping the consistent monochrome to the shots above.

They're cracking images. Very worthy indeed. What's not to love?

Don't worry about the technical inconsistencies caused by what were dynamic and harsh shooting conditions, you've captured the sense of the occasion with very acceptable technical quality. I've seen an awful lot worse quality images getting rave reviews in notable places elsewhere.

Seriously, as a photo documentary piece I think you've done very well.

Well done / thanks for sharing.

cheers - the shooting wasn't helped by the fact that i was running through wet streets literally only wide enough for a mini to pass through, and steeper than any road in ireland, trying to get ahead of the procession. good fun in hindsight, though i came extremely close to going on my ass on top of my camera when i stood on a slick manhole cover.

it was hard to establish any rapport when most people had no english, and my spanish is not much more than 'dos cervesas, por favor'.
