    Hi all

I've recently bought a new home and Enfield which is nearly ready so I will need to get a snag test done soon. Could anyone here recommend one? From what i've seen online, there are a couple of Company's that can do it. Main ones seem to be http://www.snaglistireland.com/ and http://www.homesnag.ie/. Has anyone ever used these?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I used http://www.snaglistireland.com/ in 2006 and I wasn't very happy with the service. They did not notice a number of relatively obvious problems, were expensive, and did not come for a follow up when required, saying they were busy.

This was of course 2006, when people in construction industry could get away with anything... With the downturn and all they may have improved their service to gain customers.

No idea about the other one.

You'd be better off using an engineer in the area of the house you're looking at. Be better able to pop around & do follow ups etc. Not saying anything against the websites listed.
If you don't know any & are buying through an agent they may be able to recommend a couple in the region. Your solicitors should be able to advise also, give you a list of a few names.

Never, ever, accept a recommendation from the other side. Theres a conflict of interest and its messy.

Try to get a recommendation from someone you know. you are looking for someone with good construction experience. It can be from any trade or profession, once that person has enough cop on and experience to be able to look at other areas of expertise and say thats good / bad / I need a specialist to look at that.

    +1.

What you need is a chartered surveyor - http://www.scs.ie/home

    Hey

I used homesnag.ie, we are in the process of buying a house at the moment and I found them great. Their prices are very good, plus we got it snagged on a Saturday as we were both working during the week. He had the full report sent to us by Sunday, very professional. Definitely recommend
