Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ah Galway, the sorting office is waaaaaaaaaay out the Tuam Rd, if you don't drive or cycle you're pretty much fecked for getting out there. I'm not sure how the elderly manage if they don't drive.
No buses at all last time I went there.

Could be a court summons, is your TV licence up to date?
As that was a registered letter I received and signed for :(

A registered letter is one that is recorded and tracked throughout its time in the mail system and requires the mailman obtain a signature to in order to deliver it.

    Hope this helps.

So how do you know it is from Galway?

If your boards username is anything to go by, it could be a summons. Are you ever in Galway ?

NTL chased me through debt collectors one time and I received a registered letter...funny thing was I had not received any warning mail prior to this and was totally unaware that I owed any more money! Something like this may have happened....mine originated in Longford:confused:

Silly rabbit. You dont deserve letters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,345 ✭✭✭Dunjohn

I live in Galway. I'm waiting for a registered letter that's three days late.

Christ they better not have ****ed this one up too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,722 ✭✭✭StupidLikeAFox

Sign the wrong name for it. You get your letter and nobody gets traced. Wear a hood in case theres cameras at the depot. Also put on a limp so if your up in court you can say "hey, he clearly has a limp while im clearly ok". They never check the signature if you go in with the slip so you'll def get away with it.

Alternatively get a friend to collect and sign his name so they cant match the handwriting.

Going on your thread in taxation its probably from the Tax Office in Galway

The last one I got was from FBD Insurance telling me that I missed last month's direct debit payment and my cover was stopped.

They do that so, if you were in an accident, you can't claim you thought you were still insured.

CAO is over that way right?

Or maybe you've won the Nigerian lottery or something?

Its somebody who wants to be able to prove that they have notified/advised you of whatever is in the letter...this is almost never an old friend looking to meet up for a few pints after work or somebody congratulating you on your driving recently.

I don't want to scare you, but it could be AIDS.

AIDS doesn't send registered letters. He's more of a facebook kind of guy.
