Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'll give that a shot later on. Cheers.

I just formatted the storage and will connect now. So if you want to upgrade the phone, don't use it.

Wow man this 2.2 is amazing. I actually feel cooler than usual, and ladies are walking up to me in the street and giving me gifts and their phone numbers, all manner of crazy stuff. Is everyone else getting this effect too?
    (2.1 losers obviously needn't answer)

    Wow, you preempted my question!

I'm looking forward to seeing if the skype app will work on the galaxy s running 2.2 - I think it should but I'll believe it when I see it. I have had problems with my 2.1 handset lagging, and the battery life is poor - I'm hoping 2.2 will improve things on both fronts.

I can confirm Skype now works.
I upgraded to 2.2 today and i have to say other than flash i didn't see much of an upgrade.
Why are some people going on about USB teather and WIFI hotspot now.
I could always do that with 2.1.

Nah, the stupid flashing every five seconds mtp thingy. Even with SD cards taken out to avoid the filename issue. Disaster

I managed to connect to Kies when the SD cards were in but it wouldn't upgrade the firmware so I unmounted them and now it won't connect and is flashing the MTP thing on my phone and won't connect.

    ugh.

I just want my phone to be less damn laggy.

I tried again this afternoon with no luck whatsoever.

No idea what the problem is. Rubbish software altogether, the phone is clearly connected.

well I re-mounted the SD cards and now it will connect again but it still won't upgrade the firmware

In the top right corner the down arrow click driver recovery, then let that run, then go to your phone settings, applications, development and turn on usb debugging. Plug into your pc. Let the drivers install. Unplug, turn off debugging restart phone and pc and plug in. Will install drivers and should be good

Im on Meteor bill pay... still no update available to me. Attached is my screen shot of version info. The details of this info mean nothing to me? Could someone explain? Why is my version info wildly different from other screen shots?

Does Kies know what network you're with?

Do you happen to know what you need on your PC to make USB tethering work? Is it Kies?

Possibly it is Kies - I do have it installed (that is how I upgraded). I didn't have to do anything special (running Kies on Windows Vista). I didn't have to configure anything in Kies - I just connected Phone, it appeared to auto-configure its own driver, and the UBS Tethering just worked. Sorry I can't be more help.

BTW, the reason I mentioned USB tethering is I don't think there was an explicit option on the setting menu before (maybe it was possible with some configuration and/or I just failed to notice the option).

Anyway, yes, women do think I am way cooler now :D

No, the phone product code determines if you get the update.

    Rte player.

    Careful now.

I spent €37 quid on that one night (not knowingly) when I ran over my 50meg allowance, twice, before and after midnight.
I didn't realise it would hit 187megs in total.

Connection prob? You try this? In the top right corner the down arrow click driver recovery, then let that run, then go to your phone settings, applications, development and turn on usb debugging. Plug into your pc. Not much, flicking about and then watched most of that program on the ghost estates, maybe 25-30 mins. Install 3g watchdog, I should have.

Quick question. Did the meteor bill pay customers who have been able to successfully upgrade to froyo get the "This device's version cannot be updated" message in the days before they succeeded? I'm still unclear as to whether the message is to be expected, or if it means my phone will never be updateable!

I updated yesterday and the last time I checked was maybe a week earlier. I think it said something like what you quoted, but I'm not 100% certain. Very strange that you can't update. I've attached images of what version of Kies and firmware i have. What versions are you running?
