Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm looking for a bike for a friend. She's 5'2", has a budget of €400 (max) and wants to use it for commuting and the (very) occasional long spin.

    I recommend a small bike.

The vast majority of posters here a men so they might not be in a position to advise you regarding a suitably sized bike within your female friend's budget. You might have better luck posting in the Athletics/Running/Triathlon forum where you could be more likely to encounter females who could advise based on the research they put in to buying their own bikes.

    very helpful @Raam.

firstly on price limit - if her employer is participating in the cycle to work scheme she could add to that.

If commuting is the primary purpose then I would definetly recommend a flat bar bike along the lines of a city bike or a road cruiser.

if you scroll down to the bottom of the description there is a sizing chart. that will give you an idea anyway. if she drops into any bike shop they'll help her out.

C'mon, give me a point for originality.

Have a look at the Bianchi range. The missus is the same height as your missus and she has one of these in a 44.

I may have gone over budget, but they are great bikes.

My missus is 5 feet tall so I know how hard it can be to find a good fitting bike for a shorter woman.

On a budget you could do worse than Islabikes. Kids bikes but ideal for smaller adults and designed from the ground up for little people.

We have one and its great.
