Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ok so the contact on the mini end of the charger cable has become a little bent and so it doesn't always stay in the phone when I'm trying to charge it.
I just need to replace the cable as the plug part is fine, would something like this be suitable?

i.e. is there any risk it would fry my phone?, I assume any voltage conversions go on in the plug part but should I be safe and go with an official htc branded replacment?

That should be fine. The USB cables are standard. So you can plug any USB cable into the HTC plug.

In my opinion third party ones don't work for data, i got one from eBay and it keeps stopping and starting over data, but that said its fine over charging:)

I'd put that down to being a dodgy cable from eBay.

I've loads of third party cheap cables in work. I've never had an issue with them.

Aye, the Desire uses a standard micro-usb cable and the Hero uses a proprietary mini-usb cable but you can use a standard mini-usb cable for charging and using the phone as an external disk. I think the extra pins in the Hero cable are for audio / mic controls or something.

The voltage will be sorted by the plug. You can also charge from any USB port although it will be slower as it'll only draw the standard half an amp.
