Can I just say photos are fab lads , really 1st class

Used to be! Disappointed with the lack of resolution after the watermark. Must try harder!:D

Why would the res be affected just because you added a Watermark? If you want I can sort out all you photos with a watermark that's transparent complete way though so you can see the complete photo through it if you know what I mean

All I need is a programme or something to use to do it, PM me if you want?

After some very helpfull PMs(In particular DeepBlue) and a serious learning curve including some bashing of heads off walls on some pretty cool photoediting software, here is the result, hopefully.. :pac:

Ballybeggan roundabout this week. The new road will branch out onto the old road for the time being, im assuming this will not be a permanent move and that the existing road will become a dead end at the water tower when all is completed.

    Ballybeggan_ph207.png

Still some tweaking to be done(first pic seems to have lost a bit of res) with things but its getting there..:)

Google street view has updated its maps for Tralee, well, not the town itself but the outer area so most of the bypass construction can now be seen, from about 2/3 months ago.
Pretty interesting viewing if you have been following this thread.

I tried in on the Ballygarry part and when im out before the hotel it shows the construction works but when i come closer to the hotel it goes back to the original date of June 2009. Hows that?

Because the actual Tralee area is an older shoot in a high resolution. The greater Tralee and Kerry area has only recently been updated with a better quality, including the bypass works which were not yet started in the earlier map.

Ballybeggan roundabout on schedule for opening tomorrow. Lagans laying last of the tar in the morning.

I'd appreciate if who ever was coping previous shots for Facebook to refrain from doing so with these. I have no problem taking and loading shots for the purpose of this shared info forum when I get the time however I could do without having to watermark them to prevent them being copied. If these are copied I will have no other alternative but to stop posting.

    Thanks in advance!!!!

Traleespud..much thanks for all that. Great to have some interior shots, the one of the rockface is great. Epic digging/blasting!

I was wondering about ballybeggan, havent been up there all week. Will get in some shots of the finished job over the weekend if i have time.:)

Poles(without heads) and direction signage are in place in Ballybeggan roundabout. Tarmac is down but as of 7.30pm no road open yet.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,318 ✭✭✭✭carchaeologist

View south from the bridge this eve, two bulldosers hard at work clearing earth, the hook device at the back of the bigger one is a serious piece of kit, makes short work of the rock..
    IMG_7492.jpg

And obligatory North view, still some clearing yet to be done here.
    IMG_7493.jpg

If you go on Google Street view to the location of the bridge, its nuts to see the change in the scenery!:D

There was a delay in Ballybeggan roundabout opening last night. Apparently the were short about 30 ton of tar. It's being hauled from Clare so I'd say distance had a bit to do with it being delayed.

It was finished surface wise this morn with signage in place they were tidying up the site and putting down bollards etc at lunchtime so I'd be fairly optimistic onit opening today!!!!

Hope so, I'm sick of meeting traffic up the Knockwaddra road! Whole place is wrecked with mud from cars pulling in and out.

    Ballybeggan roundabout 30/9/12.

    From old road looking East..

    View east onto roundabout.

    View North towards Knockwaddra bridge.
    IMG_7554.jpg

And thanks to the wonders of iOS6 panoramic shots are now possible....:)
Things have come a long way from the first pictures posted on this thread!
This is the view east from just where the new road meets the old.
    IMG_7558.jpg

Lots of cars driving around here this morning already.

Its pretty epic alright, especially now that its all coming together. Great shot of the quarry traleespud.
Now that the roundabouts on the northern side are installed, will the one down by Skehanagh cross be next? There are large amounts of gravel heaped there at the moment.

The thread will be two years old on the 17th of this month, can we hit 50K views by then?:P

Does anyone know why scores of Maguires (red) trucks are moving earth to somewhere beyond Farranfore (Scart Cross?) is there a landfill out there? It seems a long way to move so much earth.

When are they going to break through that final block of limestone at Ballygarry? My God, it is like the Calebra Cut in the Panama Canal.
