Anyone know of or own a car with one of these registrations? It was issued by mistake in 1982 by Donegal C.C. It went up to ZZP407 before the mistake was spotted and IH then started at 408IH.
I only ask because registrations with two Zs beside each other were never issued, apparently because of confusion with the ZZ series for temporary imports. ZZP was one that got away, almost!

    Just a curiosity....tongue.gif

I remember a few round Lifford at the time. A man called Clarke had a silver datsun bluebird with a ZZP reg. Haven't seen a ZZP in years though and I do take note of car regs.

I think there was a rally car (a nova if memory serves me rightly which it rarely does though) with a ZZP reg few years back. I'd have to look into it though i think there is a photo somewhere at home

That would be great if you could. It probably wasnt a Nova(Corsa) as i think they were introduced in 1983,and ZZP was a 1982 number.

I remember my uncle buying a new Escort Mk III with a ZZP reg.
Donegal CC: (in original issuing sequence) IH ZP NB A duplicate series of IH for cars and motorcycles existed prior to 1921. IH 1 to IH 9999 (Dec 1903 - Jan 1952);ZP 1 to ZP 9999 (Jan 1952 - Nov 1961). AIH 1 to ZIH 999 (Nov 1961 - Apr 1976);AZP 1 to ZZP 407 (Apr 1976 - Feb 1982). 408 IH to 9999 IH (Feb 1982 - Apr 1985);1 ZP to 4853 ZP (Apr 1985 - Dec 1986). NB ZZP was not authorised by SR&O (Statutory Rules & Orders) and was issued in error - no retrospective SR&O was issued to legitimise its issue. When the error was discovered ZZP was terminated at 407; in consequence the next series (reverse IH) commenced at 408.
