Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Only one n in canon, no offence but to ask strangers on a site you just joined for help testing an adapter, I'd be a bit suspicious but maybe somebody has tried them and can advise

Well I just need to bring the adapter ring and the lenses and see if they work. Don’t need to take the camera away. I have used the Mark 1 camera and know how it performs just need to know that the ring does what it says for the lenses I have before I spend 2,000.

I’m primarily using it as a video camera and am deciding between that and the new Sony

I posted this on Galway freecycle and a member ‘artyeva’ suggested I post it here

i suggested paul posting here as i thought he might have a better chance of finding a 5dII user here than on freecycle, that might be able to answer his query.

    Thanks for that

Any shop where you go to buy will allow you to try a body (in store). You can try your lenses and adaptor there.

There is no significant difference between the 5D & MKII vivsava the mounting collar.

So whatever way it worked on the 5D, it should be good to go on the MKII.

Yeh I’m aware of that the physical case and lens mounts are exactly the same its just the chip and inner electronics that are different. I used the 5D Mk1 (hired) on a shoot when I was in London a couple of months ago for stills that’s when thought I might buy one. However I dint have the adapter ring or the lenses with me at the time to try them

You probably know already, you will lose most automatic functions, you'll probably only have stop down metering and Manual focus.

For an in-depth answer, try joining the DPreview forums, they have different sections, and you will find a definitive answer.

Thanks yes I realise that but for the work I do this is not a problem my intention is eventually to get a good set of prime lenses for it but for now to utilise the ones I already have.

Thanks for the link looks interesting I‘ll check it out
