Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Assignment 47- Images of Autumn (with a bonus)

This assignment asks you to submit a photo with ‘ Images of Autumn’ as the subject.
And this time around - there is also an added bonus choice!
The ancient Celtic Pagan Festival ‘Samhain’* signalled the end of Autumn and the start of the cold Winter season.
So if it’s OK, I am also including its modern equivalent – ‘Halloween’- as an additional related theme for this assignment.
So the joint but aligned themes for this assignment are …. Images of Autumn or Halloween.
There is nothing to stop you entering photos under both headings( in separate posts of course).

The rules:
-Photos must be posted within 2 weeks of the day the task was set– so the closing time/date is 8pm on Monday 1st November 2010.
-No old photos. Only photos taken with this task in mind qualify.
-Therefore, the photo must be taken after 8pm on the 18th October 2010.
-Photos must be on the given task.
-ONE photo per post. But submit as many posts as you like.
-Stretch yourself – there is no limitation to what you can do to produce the image.
-The next task/subject is to be chosen by the person who has the most thanks after their post at the closing date/time (the post must include a photo).
-Hopefully this thread will be used for Photos and ‘thanks’ only – any discussion on the overall Theme or on Photos submitted (including C&C which is welcome) should be posted on the assignment ‘Discussion Thread’.

I'm not sure if it's ok to post a slightly larger image here than on the random photo threads? If not just let me know and I'll resize it
In the 'assignment' Rules- there are no limitations placed on the photo sizes- but I think the tradition and consensus is that we abide by the Random Thread 800px guideline.0 -

How did you do that?
Cut the pumpkin or take the photo?
The pumpkin was bought in Lidl for €7 (they advertised 49c but that was per weight). After carving the pumpkin I placed a candle in it and then put it in the kitchen with no lights on. I took loads of random shots at different angles, ISO levels, shutter speed.
The photo I settled on was

ISO 800
I made the picture 'blacker' in lightroom (hope that's allowed). Love these assignments otherwise I would probably never try out so many of the camera functions. Have even begun messing around with bracketing
