UPC wireless issues

Ive no connection problmes with the router wired to the desktop but it's useless for the laptop the laptop for the most part cannot connect to the router and when it does the pages simply time out alot, ive heard the cisco router upc give yopu isnt worth a nank Whar options do i have ?
