Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dole while on Maternity leave? Help Please

    Hi all,

I am in a bit of a situation at the moment. I have been working part time (while in school) since 2007, just did my Leaving in June. As I was under 18 and only getting employer prsi contributions I don't think I have enough credits for the tax year to qualify for maternity benefit. I applied online for a PRSI statement to be sure but I have heard nothing back.

My question really is where do I stand now? I havn't been working full hours since, just doing some holiday cover work the odd few days in the same place, which will finish up in the next 2 weeks.

As I will then be unemployed would I qualify for any type of welfare payment? I can't really apply for other jobs ( 35 weeks pregnant, to be honest who would hire me?) I don't qualify for One Parent Family as living with partner.

I know I am entitled to take time off for my Maternity Leave but will I qualify for JSA or any such payment during this time? Quite worried about our financial situation, would really appreciate any advice.

    Thanks.

Go tho the citizens info centre as soon as possible.... you could have baby early!

There are a few ways to go, if you have been refused mat benefit, then you just go straight to the social welfare office. You may be able to go on health and safety leave.

You will get a minimum of €196, but this could be means tested, so your partner's wages could be taken into account.

I take it you didn't apply for maternity benefit at all.

Make sure you get your P45 when you leave, then go to social with your passport / ID and get things moving.
