great thread---been thinking recently about taking pics of my ticket stubs.I have kept hold of them since the very first one in 1981.I only have one from Dublin in the 90's ,that was Machine Head at the SFX.A memorable gig as I've never seen the walls sweat like that at any other gig.And Logan Mader their drummer took a mad run and jumped into the crowd at one stage.Huge fella--the crowd tried to part LOL....

I lost some cracking stubs due to having long hair and drenching it to cool down after moshing which soaked the stub and it disintegrated.Soundgarden in Philadelphia(Trocadero) in 1989/90 is one I really wish I still had. Also saw Danzig there same year he was touring first album.

thanks everyone else for posting--great to see old stubs.Loved that Led Zep one--cracker

    my bag of stubs

This was a brilliant gig at an historic old venue. There's even a book about The Stone Balloon on amazon.Seeing Joe Walsh do Rocky Mountain Way in such an intimate venue(really just a bar) is up there in the top 5 gigs for me.
    5360170146_6011197689.jpg

Another one of the top 5.Me and gf were seated in 11th row and could see thru the stagedoor which was back left and opened at just the right moment.Just before Stevie came on he took a draw out of this huge curly white pipe, came out on the stage and blew these 2 huge plumes of smoke from his nostrils while starting straight in on I think Pride and Joy if memory serves. One of the greatest guitarists ever--R.I.P
    5360170256_0a493b0f0d.jpg

2nd time I'd seen Slayer that year.I'd moved to California for a year or 18 months.Reigning in blood. Not sure if Jason Newstead was in Flotsam & Jetsom at the time--prob was but I'd never heard of him then

Missed Monster Magnet who I adored as was too busy partying outside ;-)
I'd have to wait 10 years to see them.
    5359560681_89637921c4.jpg

And it was worth the wait.Karma to Burn were brilliant and a total surprise as support.I had one of their albums and really liked them but they were just amazing on the day.Fantastic time patterns and tightness. Then after Monster Magnet I was hoking around looking for the toilet when I stepped out thru a door and it was the back door and there was Dave Wyndorf standing with a couple people chatting away.Had a good 15 minutes or so standing there and got my pic taken with him.Cool dude

Stereolab's first concert in Ireland. The Rock Garden, Dublin ..sometime late 1992? It was cold.. I can't remember if there was a support. I don't think there was, late starting concert as well.

Seaya Sadier (as she was then..) was trying to motivate a rather still audience, there was also a gap of about 2 metres between the band and the punters, oddness, a 'standing crowd'.. She was inviting people to bop or dance to the music..

A treat seeing them live, I had been psyched up by the Too Pure! label at the time, PJ Harvery, Th' faith Healers, Stereolab etc..

The longest surviving paper napkin setlist..

No ticket sadly, it was probably a pay at the door affair, being the Rock Garden.

Dude - I would've given my eye teeth to see this show - Rush in Radio City Music Hall. Was that the Signals tour in 1983 when Marillion were supporting? AND you were tripping on 'shrooms in Central Park beforehand? There are some things money can't buy - lucky git!

Anyone at any of the small def leppard irish shows they done in the 80s ?? They were actually very well known at the time

Great thread! The prices and in particular the booking fees are something that would be amazing now.

Interesting as well to compare it to album prices. If I remember correctly, an LP/CD in the late 80s early 90s cost about £10 (€12.70) and tapes were a good bit less. Now a CD is about €15 and an LP about €20-25.

So physical media have gone up by about 30% or doubled in price in 30 odd years, but gigs have gone up by a factor of 10 or 20 times!

I know it's because people stream rather than buy records anymore, but still, I can't think of anything other than house prices that have gone up as much as gig prices!
