Can anyone confirm if this story is true? Heard it on the news this morning and im lost for words. The animal died of a heart attack apparently.

Seriously, what kind of bored sick world are we living in that we need to terrify a poor animal to death to get a few laughs?*sigh*

I also heard it, think its in one of the papers.
I find it hard to believe to be honest, where would you find a kangeroo?
They aren't exactly common around here.

Ya Ray D'Arcy covered the story, think he was just reading it from the paper.

Apparently they were all standing around cheering while the poor thing was stressed out and they were playing the tune to Skippy. It was the birthday of someone "famous", cant think of the name.

"We got out security guys to escort it out."

Well done the Clarion! They should be held liable for this as it happened on their premises & they didn't deal with it in the appropriate manner! I also wouldn't buy into the story they didn't know anything about it! My hole they weren't involved at all. Reading this is making me sick to the pit of my stomach!

Just reading this and feel sick and disgusted - the c**ts!! Its a big man that frightens a small animal is'nt it:mad:

    This raises so many questions;
firstly who was the di*khead who thought this was funny? who is the so called "celebrity".
where did they get the kangaroo from?
where did the hotel bring him when they "removed" him from hotel?
This is outrageous..we have to do something about this...
    any suggestions..
as disgusted as i am i dont think the hotel is to blame...its the person whos party it was and anyone that was there that did not think straight away this was a bad thing...and the "hilarious" mate who came up with the idea...

oh god that's awful :( The poor little thing.

How HOW can people be so thoughtlessly cruel...they make me sick. May their cruelty come back on them 3 times over

At least the hotel are saying that they weren't involved and are helping the Gardai but they have to know who booked the party,it should be the party organizers responsibility to pass along the names of who done this.

    What the hell?

And according to an RSCPA spokeswoman on Morning Ireland this morning, wallabies are relatively common in this country.

    Wtf?!?!

Have you ever seen or heard of someone with a wallaby as a pet?

"We got our security guys to escort it out."

    Bouncers eject Bouncer. Irony?

    Poor animal.

I heard this on the radio this morning and looked on the DSPCA website but nothing there. Is this even true, how on earth would someone have a kangaroo (I heard it was a BABY kangaroo?!!) in this country. I am mystified but not shocked, when it comes to animal welfare in this country I think I'm beyond being surprised by anything any more.

€700 can buy you a Wallaby in Ireland if you look in the right places. That's less than what I paid for my dogs and the irony of it is there are more laws stating what I can and can't do with a dog than there is with a Wallaby!

A man not too far from me used to keep four wallabys, no sign of them in the last year or so though, saw them on donedeal not too long ago

why?? what exactly are you going to say

    what? you agree with this?
I talked to ISPCA and there is no law on exotic animals. as long as you have papers to enter and leave the country you can breed as much as you want.

Dreadful event. I don't think the hotel was complicit in this other than it was on their premises. However, they do know who booked the party and cleraly it was planned by somebody as the DJ seemed to be in the know.

Surprised though that no video or photos have surfaced on YouTube or Facebook.

I'm fairly sure this is what Jap gt meant. You think if you hadnt called the Ispca that they wouldnt know about this incident? Calling them is just wasting your time and theirs.

Its not wasting their time,a BIG part of what they do is educate. This person seen something they did not agree with and contacted the appropriate people and got good advice. Ive actually printed off the letter in the link today to send off.

So its not wasted anyones time. Its raised awareness, plus im sure that the ISPCA are happy to hear that people care about this story, the more people lobbying for change the better.

what change? so one wallabie dies, how many would you say are being cared for perfectly in Ireland? Ye want a ban on sales of creatures just because they seem unusual to you? how unfair is that on the many people taking loving care of their pets?

If one dog dies of cruelty, should all dog sales be banned?

    Reactionary thinking.

Zuroph said You think if you hadnt called the Ispca that they wouldnt know about this incident?
(sorry dont know how to do those quote things)
In fact...the ISPCA in Longford did NOT know about the incident when i phoned them!! so i did not waste time.
what is wrong with you people??

If you look at the link that was posted up it has nothing to do with the sale of exotic animals. Its a lobby for change in relation to "proper protection of the welfare of animals and a significant increase in the penalties for offenders"

So from that phone call ashmac was educated on what he/she can do and so was I. So no ones time wasted that i can see.

Each story that has been publicized lately is bringing the issue of animal abuse and neglect to more people, more people who lobby, more chance of actual change.
