A quick note on fighter bashing - please read

The forum has been running very well the last while, but in the last couple of days I've had to infract more people than I'd like to all for fighter bashing. Seems messrs Bisping and Hardy are bringing the worst out of everyone. I'm not a fan of either of them to be honest. Bisping seems to be delusional about previous performances as well as disrespectful to fighters and fans alike. And Hardy seems to forget that he hasn't as many KO's on his resumé as he makes out, and that he still has a lot to prove before he disrespects the entire UFC roster. Phrasing it like that is ok, I didn't resort to petty name calling. And you guys are free to post along those lines too.

Just to clear it up, fighter bashing is seen as any kind of unnecessary name calling.

We all have fighters we don't like, that's normal.

Criticism is ok and anything along the lines of: "I don't think he's very good because...."; "I think he is arrogant and that he acts like he's better than everyone"; "I hate him because I hate thrash talkers" or any other criticism with justification, is perfectly fine, we're all here to express opinions after all.

However, saying "he's a pr1ck", "he's a wanker" etc, is not ok and will be punished.

Also, no, you cannot call fighters pricks or **** after explaining why you think they are. We're not 10 years old, we can come up with better ways to word it.

Here's something i don't understand, if i go in a thread, and for example, say "Brock's a total prick" or "Randy Couture is a Gob****e" and i do so without any first hand knowledge, going on on hearsay, then i fully expect an infraction, and deservedly so.

But, and here's where it's a fine line, if i have had first hand experience of a fighters antics, and he's been acting a complete Knob (IMO) then why can't i say it? Not just calling him that, but also explaining my reasoning why.

These fighters choose the lifestyle they live in and they are public figures and in the public eye.

If a fighter does something really good then he will be applauded, but if he's acting like a knob, and if i have witnessed it first hand, then why am i unable to say that he's acting a knob?

I agree with you Scud, but to play devil's advocate, you could be making it up! Maybe you were a knob and the fighter reacted accordingly? The majority I've spoken to have nothing good to say about Rampage, (myself included) but others have said he was charming.

But like I said, I agree with you and just got infracted myself for calling McSweeney something rude.

Lads it's pretty simple. Grab a thesaurus and phrase it more politely!

"I found so and so to be unfriendly, arrogant, and full of himself"

"I met so and so and he disrespected everyone and I didn't like him"

"The way Brock behaved after he beat Mir was obnoxious!"

There are a million and one ways to express dislike for people without resorting to calling them ****/knobs or anything else. Let's keep ourselves above all of that. The problem is, justified and all as it often is, we're trying to maintain a certain level of quality post on this board, if we start allowing comments calling fighters **** it will descend into a free for all.
