new cast iron stove going in to my residence needed an adaptor so thursday noon my installer explained to ALAN PERROT the owner of the business what was required and ordered it.

it was meant to be ready for collection on Monday .we called up to collect and they had made it all wrong ..so we re explained and they said we would have it on Tuesday morning ..well guess what ..we have not got it yet !

Now my fitter has gone away this afternoon for 2 weeks which they (PERROTS) were told and i am sitting in a big georgian room with no double glazing , my new 1000 euro stove is here but cant be used

Mr ALAN PERROTS site says he provide "guaranteed level of customer service proved over many years."

well not to me or my fitter Alan.

anyone else been let down by this particular guy ?

This is the Consumer Issues forum. Therefore, can you tell us what you have done to get this issue fixed? We can then offer specific advice.

20 adaptors or cowls delivered to my door will make no difference to my case because my fitter is gone for a fortnight

after the post though I have had a ranting call from Mrs ALAN PERROT though where she attempted to blame me and my fitter and anyone except her hubby (who took the order) and is to blame for the whole kerfuffle....

she offered me nothing and most definitely not an apology or an explanation......HELLO ....I am a customer . In her mind i was to blame for everything !

i placed an order and did not receive anything except a long time without a stove due to that non supply and it is getting right cold here in Cork tonight !

I'd be getting another fitter to finish it off.
It's there fault for not having the right parts at the time but you can't blame them for your fitter taking a holiday.

well i thought that is what a consumer forum is about
to let other consumers know that certain companies are not to be relied upon

am i meant to be singing someone's praises ?

i really fail to see what you are on about cabaal

well thanks for your input ..logical enough .
problem is though that he is a mate and is charging me very little compared to quotes i got from others and the stove itself alone nearly broke me ..

let alone getting fuel for it

You still haven't explained what steps have been taken on your part to attempt to resolve the issue. It sounds very one-sided.

This is not a forum to badmouth companies without justification. This is a forum where people can seek Consumer advice on how to resolve the issues that they are facing.

my installer explained to ALAN PERROT the owner of the business what was required and ordered it.

How do you know that this explanation was correct? Perhaps the fitter is the one at fault.
Now my fitter has gone away this afternoon for 2 weeks which they (PERROTS) were told and i am sitting in a big georgian room with no double glazing , my new 1000 euro stove is here but cant be used

You can hardly blame Perrots for the fitter not being available.

What about the company that supplied the stove? Surely they supply all the fittings you need to be able to install it, otherwise you just bough half a stove. Why not blame them?
anyone else been let down by this particular guy ?

Did you contact him today to find out why the adapter wasn't ready today? Did he have all the specifications? Is the fitter, whom I see is a friend of yours, an actual professional installer, or just someone that might be able to do it?
well i thought that is what a consumer forum is about to let other consumers know that certain companies are not to be relied upon

No, this is a forum for putting across an issue, and getting suggestions on how to resolve it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 40 patrickcoughlan

steps i have taken to resolve the issue are :

I rang at 9 15 this morning to find out could I pick up my adapter as promised it would be ready

I was told they did not make it yesterday but would make it that morning for 12 pick up

my fitter called out to collect and it wasnt ready so he could not wait around

I called personally today to premises at 2 to find out what the problem was

alan the proprietor was not there but i spoke to a fabricator who said it was not made because he had no specification from his boss

i asked him to ask his boss to ring me

i waited for the call and then i posted

i then received what i consider to be a ranting call from mrs perrot whom i told i did not believe she had been given the whole picture and when she ranted on with her version of events she was not present at i closed my mobile

since i sent a private message to alan perrot who joined boards .ie today asking him to solve the issue

he did not reply yet or email or call , nor did he post a reply on the thread

i hope he does i want the adaptor even though it is useless to me for duration but if i possess it well i will be sorted all the quicker

yes my fitter is a stove installer
in fact the day we ordered he took delivery from perrots of a different type of adapter for a different stove and i am sure that stove is working tonight

because he had the ordered part he was able to install that other stove

these adapters are manufactured right there to order

each is for a particular chimney

my requested one is to certain dimensions with a 150 Degree elbow

we know what we want ..they said they would manufacture... with changing time and delivery dates..... and result is no supply and apart from fabricator telling me he did not know what to make i have no other information because he still has not contacted me

  • Registered Users Posts: 40 patrickcoughlan

we told perrots we needed it monday because fitter was leaving tues
they said yes we will supply by Monday

    they did not

we fell back to their next delivery date tuesday morning they failed to supply

Why do you think i am blaming them for my fitter going on holiday?

i am trying to resolve the issue of their non supply which has had consequences for me ...

they failed an agreed order ..failed to elicit further info on requirements if that is what is holding it up..failed to apologise or otherwise explain..

    just simply failed me >>>>

It sounds like you need to find another manufacturer. If you've given them the correct specification, they told you it could be done but failed to do it, then I'd stop wasting time with them. Obviously that doesn't really help you much, since you're fitter is gone away now, but if they are this bad with dealing with you, then you should stop dealing with them. It seems you've already done pretty much everything you can do.

nice one breathnach ..that made me laugh

best reply i had all day
everyone else is so understanding of the perp.

true enough is a minor issue but 2 days of my life have gone in to this

40 miles of cross city travel

stress factor .. suffering cold tonight ..baby expected for visit tomorrow staying a few days ..enormous electricity bill til all is sorted

ah well at least i have my health unless i contract pneumonia in the next few days or god forbid the baby does

my main aim though was to find others that they had left down

this guy supplies solar panels and plant for same

boilers wood pellet stoves etc ..just trying to save some one else perhaps a cold xmas

<snip> if he accepts an order that a Fas trainee would make in an hour after 3 weeks training...
and he cannot bring that to factory floor to be fabricated ...

oh yeah he jumped the price 3 times during all this from 35 to 50 for one he made non spec and we refused on friday morning

to one with half the material and half the welding (our original order) to 80 for the one he has not yet called for me to pick up

i take this as he wanted us to pay man hours and material for the one he got wrong

he presented no spec sheet to be filled in by us , drawing or anything ..said he could do it and when i post he put the rotweiler personality wife on to me

    <snip>

    wont admit ...apologise ...contact

bit like our bankers and regulators ..

any way sorry for rant and thanks for laugh ..

actually that is the only option ... V !

wont act but will create a few scenarios in my head ...might keep me warm when airtricity cut me off

    cheers:)

I've removed some comments you've made about Mr. Perrot. You simply cannot make comments like that in a public forum unless you can substantiate them.

At this stage, your best bet is to engage another fitter and get the piece manufactured elsewhere.

think perrots are getting a raw deal here from this joker -

how were you LEFT down ?

and to call someones wife a rotweiller personality ,you are going to get what you deserve ,buggar all

you rant about extreme outcomes ,pneumonia ? what did you do b4 the stove arrived to your georgian house with no double glazing ?
(in dublin we call that 'fur coat no knickers ')
if you ring john gormley im sure he will highlight your plight at the next cabinet meeting .im sure the ministers will be shocked.maybe they might get devils bit cider (separate thread ) to send you cider slabs every week to keep you warm ? letter of apology from the president ?

i think you are a serious joker ,you should ring perrots and engage in an adult form of conversation ,as im sure you will find that companys like these have people they can call in emergencys to fit or measure spec parts for genuine customers where delays or mishaps or mistakes occur . i think you have shot yourself in the foot with them though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 40 patrickcoughlan

well knighted 1 you were not at the end of the phone when she rang to attack me

your sarcasm might amuse you mate but not me

they let me down by not delivering as promised

    simple

why dont you read the story or are you trying to tell me i caused all this by placing an order that they accepted with the boss man

i am sure they have plenty of happy customers but i am not one of them and i will get my adapter made some where else because i dont give cash to people who let me down on delivery dates and then blame me

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,383 ✭✭✭91011

So they delivered the stove no problem.

Then you needed something extra that was not contracted for delivery of the stove?

So no issues with the main purchase - it arrived as ordered and in time. - So initial contract was completed fully without any problems.

The Issue is with the fittings in the house and a specific adapter required to link up the stove?

Did you not check this before your ordered it? (most of these things are standard fittings)
Did the fitter give the correct measurements?

Like many others, you're giving this company a bad name for no real reason and with the way you're ranting, if it was me, I'd at this stage tell you to where to go.

You ordered a stove, it was delivered as described and on time. You did your own fitting, so its the fitter that you need to rant about as it has not been fitted properly.

As for Mrs Perrot ringing you and ranting at you - after some of your posts what do you expect????????

to the OP, sh1t happens from time to time. Orders get mixed up, delays happen etc ... pain in the ass, but happens in all walks of life and industries.

Where I work I get let down from vendors, distributors, logistics companies all the time ... facts of life. We tend to always have a plan B just in case.

By your mannerisms here you have probably burned your bridges with the original supplier, so your best bet is find someone else.

From experience, when customers become such a pain the desire to look after them tends to diminish. When I have a problem with a supplier I will try as polite as possible while firm and generally they get on board with me to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Your problem is compounded by the fact that your mate is on holidays. If that wasn't the case it wouldn't be too much of an issue. So there are a number of mitigating factors that have lead you to this rant .. not just the supplier.

    91101 or whatever

where did i say i bought my stove from them
you just came up with that yourself dude

i bought the stove elsewhere and it was picked up by me

i went to a specialist company for the adaptor and they did not supply to spec given to them

as simple as that.. and the abusive phone call was after the first post so really guy you are not following this at all only scanning it and deciding i am the bad guy

    thanks for your uninformed JUDGEMENT!

    whippet
    true enough

good points and i will just walk away and import from England

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,383 ✭✭✭91011

so it was just an adaptor you needed from them?

they made one and it was the wrong size?

So have you found out if the fitter gave the correct measurements? - 100% certain??

Unless you're 100% certain that the correct measurements were given, (anything in writing???) then you could be in for expensive libel action for the crap you've posted both personal against Alan Perrot & his business..

  • Registered Users Posts: 40 patrickcoughlan

my fitter met twice with perrot

the sizes of both ends of the adaptor were correctly given

    the angle was correctly described

at no time did perrot write anything down

off the cuff seems to be the way he took the order

    and hence all the problems

i myself was present the second time

you're an angry man - get over it and get the part elsewhere. Life is too short.

  • Registered Users Posts: 40 patrickcoughlan

    of course i am angry

    i was let down repeatedly

are you implying that it would not bother you at all ?

    anyway ....life goes on !

but i will never have anything good to say about them !

No it certainly wouldn't bother me in such a way that I would go on public forums ranting and raving over a small adaptor that could be got from many other sources.

I'd just get it elsewhere - but hten I'm not an angry person, hence no grey hairs & 50+ :D
