    YOUNGBLOOD BRASS BAND
"If you see one band this decade, make it YoungBlood Brass Band."
    - The London Times

Youngblood Brass Band destroys convention. They are focused on creating consistently progressive, acoustic, groundbreaking music, employing whatever sonic means necessary to do so. This nine-member ensemble hails from all over these sprawled United States (Madison, WI / New York, NY / San Francisco, CA / Chicago, IL) and sound absolutely focused on unleashing new music to the rest of the world.

To that aim, they have been touring throughout Europe and the United States for the past five years. Having performed in over a dozen countries and at some of the most prestigious music festivals – Roskilde, Lowlands, Pukkelpop, Glastonbury, Womad, etc. – don't expect the band to slow down now. Their breathtaking concerts secured their status as an incredible group to see live whether it's in an intimate small club setting or an international festival stage.

Their debut album Unlearn was independently released in 2000 and featured collaborations with rapper Talib Kweli (which spawned the underground smash single "Ya'll Stay Up"), Mike Ladd, DJ Skooly and ex-Frank Zappa vocalist Ike Willis. The attention garnered from the album lead to a record deal with Ozone Music (NYC), the revolutionary avant-hiphop label that introduced the poetic talents and radical aims of Company Flow (El-P), Mike Ladd, Antipop Consortium, Mr. Lif and Saul Williams among others. Their highly anticipated follow-up in 2003 Center:Level:Roar was released to international acclaim and had them trekking around the globe to nearly sold out audiences everywhere.

With a brand new record label, flourishing local arts collective, DIY punk aesthetic, worldwide educational aim, incredible stage performances and plenty of raging ambition, YoungBlood Brass Band is poised to become a torch-bearer for a new kind of artist – one implanted in schools around the world by the good grace of public radio (their NPR appearance in 2004 is already the stuff of media legend) and held in high regard by new music aficionados the world over.

"YBBB's the Midwest's answer to the Roots,"- The New Yorker
"These brassmen will blow your mind." - Jazz Times
"...certainly a band to keep an eye on." - CMJ
"YoungBlood Brass Band creates music without regard to racial, geo graphical, or even temporal restrictions — seemingly the sole criteria which determines the ingredients...are passion and energy, both of which it possesses in spades." - Jason Ankeny,

    THE GLIMMERS
It's been a crazy decade for the Glimmers. It all started when they created Eskimo Recordings way back in 1999, a label that now hosts big shot names like Lindstrom & Prins Thomas and future disko kings Aeroplane. On that label the Glimmers released several projects and mix albums. The press loved everyone of them. 'Serie Noire : Dark Pop and New Beat' (2002) was probably the most innovative one they ever did so far, and it gave The Glimmer Twins their well deserved breakthrough in the international DJ scene. Serie Noire ended up as number two in that years list of Best Compilations in Jockey Slut magazine (R.I.P.).

In 2004 they shortened their name into 'The Glimmers' for various reasons and they released their highly acclaimed 'Remixed, Re-edited and F*cked Up' mix album for Eskimo Recordings. DJ Kicks (2005) in the famous series for !K7 Records followed, and a year later they mixed 'Fabric Live 31' (2006) in the amazing series runned by London's hot spot Fabric.

Their amalgamation of new-beat-funk-dub-house-techno-party-hip-hop-electro-new-wave-edgy-post-punk-disco-rock and a bit of pop was a revelation to those bored of linear mix albums. It became their trademark and according to DJ Magazine, ..The Glimmers are the most adventurous DJ duo in the world !

Remixes have been made for Grace Jones, MGMT, Bloc Party, The Killers, New Order, Roxy Music, Isolee, Phoenix, Munk, Pop Del Arte, Snow Patrol, Soulwax, Calvin Harris, Shirley Bassey, Junkie XL, The Chemical Brothers, Doves, Moby and Phenomenal Hand Clap Band. A lot of those remixes were released successfully and a few of them never saw the daylight officially.

Being totally independent, not signed to any record label, the Glimmers decided to do something different with the release of "The Glimmers Are Gee Gee Fazzi". They thought that it was time to give something back to the audience that always came to party and supported them for all those years. In collaboration with the promoters and club owners where they have been working with during all those years, they made it possible to give the album away for free to everyone who came to a Glimmers show. This was new in clubland, never seen before, and a huge success! Over 55.000 CD's have been distributed by the Glimmers in more than 55 cities all over the world, and this without any sponsor, and without the help of any record company.

'The Glimmers Present Disko Drunkards' (2009) is their first proper artist album, recorded with some of Belgium's finest musicians. Real drums, a live bass, proper synths and crazy vocals all recorded and produced by the Glimmers in their unique style. Again DJ Magazine was so kind to distribute the album exclusively and for free with their May issue, then the album got released exclusively in Japan on July 22nd with Hostess Entertainment and since November 27th the Glimmers made the album available as CD and digital download for the rest of the world.

Whomp That Sucker! (2010) will be released in September and is pure dance floor madness. As the Glimmers describe it .."This time there are no musicians involved. Nothing is recorded live, all the music here is sampled, ripped, stolen and abused.. No guest appearances, no pop or rock stars on vocals, no hypes. This time we only serve second hand discoid beats, analogue synths, bleeps, bass and FX and a few gimmicks here and there.. All coming soon to a download portal near you.. And for all you old school people who still care a vinyl edition will be pressed and a mixed CD will be available as well."

    VILLA
    / VILLA ARE FREDO & THANG & SEBA / BASED IN GHENT - BELGIUM / DJs – TUNES – EDITS - REMIXES /
What's the first thing that pops into your head when gazing over the word 'Villa'?

Is it a nostalgic yet timeless image of suntanned bodies in skimpy but stylish garments, dancing from dusk till dawn on vermillion beaches or swaying elegantly around pristine swimming pools adorning marble terraces that speck glowing Balearic hills?

Because that's precisely the sort of imagery the boys of Villa have in mind when doing their stuff – and yes, that word has been mentioned: Balearic! Don't try to pigeonhole this trio of time bandits though.

"Putting the so-called 'balearic' music scene in one box is against the very nature of its foundations. Balearic is no genre or tag, it's a philosophy; an approach to music in all forms and shapes. It's off-kilter disco, instrumental new wave B-sides, edgy pop gems, ancient house discs, below the radar rock tunes, Belgian new beat, slow motioned electro and everything in between. Preferably all in one stretch - no boundaries, all limits off. Open your mind and your feet will follow!" - there you have it.

Sure, Villa draw inspiration from the groundbreaking turntable eclecticism from such maverick disc jockeys as the legendary Alfredo, cosmic maestro Danielle Baldelli and the illustrious DJ Harvey but also credit their roots in Ghent as a driving creative force. The small community famously spawned dance floor heroes such as 2manydjs/Soulwax and The Glimmers, but also housed the notorious Boccaccio discotheque; birthplace of New Beat in the late 80s.
With almost ten years of DJ experience behind them, Fredo & Thang step up their game. First there was the Gameplay edit of Beirut's indie gem Nantes – cooked up as a secret weapon but soon receiving kudos from major players such as Laurent Garnier, Dixon and Tim Sweeney.

Soon after, a hook up with vintage synth collector Seba, resulted in the birth of Villa. The well seasoned composer/producer resides in his cosy farmhouse, surrounded by a collection of rare musical toys – a perfect setting for this new musical venture. Let's make this sure, this man has walked the line in terms of styles and productions and is working on some very promising stuff.

Their first joined effort: the 'diva' edits - a series of three re-rubs aptly named Anita, Tina and Agneta, which saw a digital release on Eskimo Recordings offshoot Mindless Boogie.

Remixes for NYC hipster duo The Golden Filter, UK producer Ali Love and up-and-coming disco revivalists Music Go Music soon followed. Even the ever prolific Richard Melville Hall (you might know him as Moby..) enlisted their skills for honing tunes in a fresh and surprising direction!

Musically, the trio like to reference astral innovators as Quincy Jones, Bo Michael Tretow, Giorgio Moroder or Vangelis, but also the edgy pop of Blondie or David Bowie. Pop sensibility matched with avant-garde.

What's next? More remixes, hitting the road aplenty, many hours of studio seclusion, an album…who knows? Already being hailed as 'one to watch in 2010', Villa are at the dawn of broader horizons.
