Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is it just me or does anyone else things that it is WRONG to start advertising Christmas this early??
I'm still getting used to the idea that we are not getting a summer this year, it's not even Halloween yet, almost, but not yet. And I just say first Christmas ad, I'm in shock.

So this has been going on longer than just the last 5 minutes.
One of these years they are going to decide to advertise Christmas all year round, Christmas tress for sale in July, avoid the rush.

But yeah, common decency would suggest waiting til after Hallowe'en at least.

I think thats an awful advert to be honest.

I don't mind being reminded that Xmas is coming up sometimes - but bombarded at times, its gets too much.

Not in the last 10 years at least. Worked in Argos myself a few years back and I remember getting some xmas stock in late july or early august.

Maybe it's something that I am so traumatised by I have sub-consciously blocked all memory of early Christmas advertising!

Ordering in stock in good time is one thing, ads are another though.

last year I spent Christmas day in a hotel alone, because my dad's an abusive alcoholic and my family are dysfunctional and alienated from one another.

Nice! Order anything from room service?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,024 ✭✭✭previous user

    they don't do room service.

The worst are the Christmas party ads starting around June to be honest.

Have noticed a few Christmas ads on tv, anymore before the beginning of next month and my tv will be going out the window.
