Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Quick question,

    Will 105 chain CN5600 work with 105 cassette CS5700?

    Thanks.

Any brand of chain will work, as long as the number of sprockets on the cassette match the chain.

9 speed chain for 9 speed cassette, 10 for 10, etc....

Thanks for that, both are 10 speed so should be alright :D

You need to be sure you get the right chain for the 5700 cassette.
Do not use the CS-5700 in any combination other than with the 10-
speed super narrow chain. Other chains cannot be used as the sizes
    do not match.

That was taken from the tech doc from the shimano website for 5700 cassette here http://techdocs.shimano.com/media/techdocs/content/cycle/SI/SI_1YN0A/SI-1YN0A-001-00-ENG_v1_m56577569830693995.PDF

Think I should be alright as CN5600 is a 'super narrow' chain..., phew!

Shimano would say that, they want to panic people into buying their chain. Seems to work on some folks......

Any 10 speed chain will work, I personally would go for a Shimano or a SRAM chain, the spacing is identical between the sprockets between those two brands.

There was a big court case in the good ol' US of A a few years ago, SRAM took Shimano to court as they were using the same spacing, Shimano complained - SRAM won.

Shimano are a bit of a nightmare for saying, "Do not use anything except genuine shimano part GN-XBD65DJ in conjunction with your crankset/chain/chainring/cassette/derailleur otherwise there is a risk of serious injury from incompatible parts", when in reality any compatible part will work just fine.

Just to let you know for absolute confirmation that I am using that combination when I have the turbo wheel on the bike. It works fine.
