Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Goal-line technology has moved a significant step closer after the International FA Board today agreed to re-examine the issue.

IFAB's business meeting in Wales ended with members - made up of FIFA and the four British home associations - agreeing to look again just seven months after the game's law-making body ruled it out.

A statement said: "The technology would apply solely to the goal line, and only to determine whether a goal has been scored or not."

The system must be accurate; the indication of whether a goal has been scored must be immediate and automatically confirmed within one second; the indication of whether a goal has been scored will only be communicated to the match officials."

A deadline of the end of next month has been set for companies to make a first presentation of their technologies to FIFA.

A testing period will then take place with a number of companies to determine the accuracy of each system and this will be reported back to the IFAB annual general meeting on March 5.

    About time :D

Why do Fifa need to make such tiny steps?

They are just prolonging the inevitable.

Atleast its a step forward. Im sure Blatter and Platini are pulling their hair out at the prospect.

Should have been done years ago.

Alas to me it sounds like it would have helped Englands cause but not our own. As the Handball didn't appear at the goal line.
Am I reading this right ?

Why would they take steps to introduce something which in 99.9% of cases is not needed, whereas the amount of terrible terrible match changing decisions that don't include the goal line are being ignored.

Well nothing is needed 100% of the time...

In fairness, goal-line technology would be the easiest and least disruptive video element to start with so it would make sense.

I think there could be chaos if too much was introduced too quickly - and I don't think anyone should complain if this was brought in really.

However, not a done deal yet. That one-second stipulation seems to me like an excuse waiting to be made.
