Seagate Barracuda 7200.11

Hi all,

I got a media player about a year ago (iTab 38) and got it with a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1TB Hard Drive, which has a SATA and power connection. It looks like this:








I basically want to upgrade the hard drive to a similar 2TB one, however I don't specifally know what I am looking for, as the pictures on websites are differen like so:

Mine is enclosed, is it a 3.5" or 2.5", desktop, internal, etc.


I know I need a SATA drive, but could someone point me in the right direction, would the item in the link above be what i am looking for?

It's a 3.5" 7200RPM internal SATA drive.

The one in the link should be fine.

that's what I suspected but wasn't sure cause the internal disc is showing in the picture.

The Samsung F4 is out of stock but even cheaper again at only 92 euro if they get it back in stock soon.

Thanks for your tips mate, I used to buy of komplett all the time and found elara to be much cheaper for other stuff.

As the original drive I have has 7200 rpm, I wanted to keep it the same. Does the speed of the drive really matter much? I can't seem to find the speed on the the komplett site for the first link above, But that looks like a grand 2TB HD for 105 quid.

I may just go for that one and save 60quid

I don't think that 7200 RPM is really worth it unless the price difference is small, or you are using it as a OS/Program drive, for use as media storage drive 5400RPMs are more than adequate, use less power, quieter and more importantly cost a good bit less.

Frankly you wouldn't notice the difference at all day to day with a media player (Large transfers will be a bit slower alright but if you only do them occasionally then a few extra minutes saved isn't really worth the extra cost IMO).

The major difference i find with hard drives is the Size.. some might be 80GB, 120GB .. i could go on..

And dont even start to replacing the hard drive without a nice cup of tea.
