Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

NASA will tomorrow launch a spectacular mission to bomb the Moon. Their LCROSS mission will blast off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, carrying a missile that will blast a hole in the lunar surface at twice the speed of a bullet. The missile, a Centaur rocket, will be steered by a shepherding spacecraft that will guide it towards its target - a crater close to the Moon's south pole. Scientists expect the blast to be so powerful that a huge plume of debris will be ejected.

Planet X and the Mysterious Death of Dr. Robert Harrington

A heavenly body possibly as large as the giant planet Jupiter and possibly so close to Earth that it would be part of this solar system has been found in the direction of the constellation Orion by an orbiting telescope aboard the U.S. infrared astronomical satellite.

So mysterious is the object that astronomers do not know if it is a planet, a giant comet, a nearby "protostar" that never got hot enough to become a star, a distant galaxy so young that it is still in the process of forming its first stars or a galaxy so shrouded in dust that none of the light cast by its stars ever gets through.

"All I can tell you is that we don't know what it is," Dr. Gerry Neugebauer, IRAS chief scientist for California's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and director of the Palomar Observatory for the California Institute of Technology said in an interview.

In 1969, a meteor fell into Australia and was later examined. Just recently, that meteor was found to have organic molecules that matched our base of genetic code. Well these two are bull****, straight off the bat.

The LCROSS mission was incredibly well publicised with story covered in most media outlets.
In fact I watched the live NASA feed of the mission.

As for the Indian mission the probe had tons of support by NASA as well as other agencies.
In fact if you read the news article you posted you'd find that the instrument that actually detected the water was built, supplied and managed by NASA.

The fact you didn't bother to check these facts doesn't bode well for the rest of the post.

But the oldest post on the CT forum has its last post dated 23aug2010. Once a thread is locked it will rapidly move down the list (and off the end into obvlivion as far as i can see) as new threads and posts come online.
Maybe i'm wrong and i apologise if i am. I don't want this to get out of hand either.

As the lads said above take some time to read the charter and some of the other threads and get a feel for the place

Every theory has holes in it initially by discussing them and refining them it makes them stronger, not everyone will agree with you and the are allowed argue their point of view, we just request that people do it in a civil way

The post above isn't civil so any more like that and we will have act as mods and honestly I would prefer if we didn't have too

If you go into, for example, a hard core Star Wars fan forum and say Stars wars is perfect and are the best movies ever made, it's very likely that people will agree with you. But on the other hand if you want to really discuss the topic of Star Wars, good and bad, it might not be the place to do it. The fact is many of the conspiracy theories posted here don't stand up to much scrutiny. Even if you think the US government are murdering scum or 'the Jews' dunnit that shouldn't be an obstacle to discovering you were mistaken about some of the specifics. And just maybe you'll discover that you were wrong about more and more of the specifics, isn't that a good thing?

No it doesn't ( nor should they have to be in a CT forum) but who made you the final authority on deciding?

What it does should mean is that people should be able to make posts without their points being referred to as "bullshyt", or others (you) lecturing to them, especially new users. As I said, only in the conspiracy theory debunker forum.

Do you agree with the bolded part?

Didn't we have this discussion before. I've never even thought that I was wiser than other users. But that doesn't bar me from making a helpful (or wise) suggestion.
I've seen no indication of that,

That post and the most of the rest of his posts don't look like copy paste? They can still be relevant and interesting but they do look like copy paste.
No it doesn't ( nor should they have to be in a CT forum) but who made you the final authority on deciding?

I don't seem to recall being a mod nor stating I had authority.
If you posted any of these things in the Politics forum you'd have to prove it or it would be deleted. You can post here without proof but that doesn't stop anyone pointing out the obvious flaws.
What it does should mean is that people should be able to make posts without their points being referred to as "bullshyt", or others (you) lecturing to them, especially new users. As I said, only in the conspiracy theory debunker forum.

I can't understand why people think if you state something as fact and it clearly isn't that no one should mention this. At a cursory glance many of the things posted here can be shown to be false, i can understand that people might get frustrated that people just don't bother to check.

I do. Though this doesn't also mean the post wasn't bullshít.

The documentary was made before the UN report came out. Now either you can explain to me (the idiot) what is biased about it or it's not biased. I'll leave it up to you.

Mentioning that something is not factual and stating why you think its not factual is fine, and leads on to debate about whatever is being discussed. It actually makes for interesting reading.

On the other hand, when a persons first sentence in a thread calls the opening post, or parts of it, "Bull****" then it just gets peoples backs up. At least people had the good sense not to respond to that particular post.

How come you don't complain about his posts where he calls people here a 'miserable bunch of sorry ****ers', or his patronizing post towards bleg, instead of accusing meglome of being patronizing for responding to the op?

He looks like a troll to me, one thats been here before.

OK, So the LCROSS Story fizled out, much like teh mission itself, how about we keep movin on down the list, see how many more of them you can find later references to

I agree. However there are people on both sides of any debate in here who will have an attitude. I usually either ignore it or I report it. Crying into my milk just seems pointless.
