Im approaching 30 & interested in a WHV for either Oz or NZ. I understand
30yrs is the cut off for this. My question is
    • Is 30 the cut off for the visa application or for country entry ?
    • Do you need to specify entry dates with your visa application ?
    • How long is the standard time between visa granting & expiry for entry ?
    Thanks

You can apply still apply and enter the country up to age 31 on a WHV

you can apply right up to a few days before your 31st birthday, then you have a year to activate it so you could almost be hitting your 32nd birthday before you enter the country.

This been posted here many times before. If you look at http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/working-holiday/417/eligibility-first.htm

    General requirements

    You must:

be outside Australia when you apply and, when your visa is granted
not have previously entered Australia on a Work and Holiday (462) visa
not have entered Australia on a Working Holiday (417) visa before
be aged between 18 and 30 years (inclusive) at the time of applying
Important: Your age will be determined as the age you are in Australia at the time your application is lodged (Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) or the Australian Eastern Daylight Savings time (AEDT)). Because of this time difference you are advised not to wait to lodge your application until you are about to turn 31, as the system will take the current date in Australia as your application date.
be applying no more than 12 months before you intend to travel to Australia
not be accompanied by dependent children at any time during your stay in Australia
Note: A dependent child is the child, or step-child, of you or your partner who:
is not married, engaged to be married, or in a de facto relationship
    has not turned 18.

eg. If you are 31 on 1st Dec 2010 you can lodge an application on say the 15th Nov 2010, if its granted on the 19th Nov 2010 you are then able to enter Australia anytime up to 18th Nov 2011.

allow at least a week or so for the processing of the visa.
