    Hi Guys,

I have an apartment in which there was a small electrical fire in the hotpress. Not much damage but the firemans foam (no water - electrical fire) damaged the floors and there was smoke absolutely everwhere.

Would I be entitiled to the full replacement, due mainly to smoke damage, of all clothes, cushions, couch, electrical equipment, dresses, trousers, shoes, etc........... Im insured for contents with no exclusions.

    All help appreciated

Which plan & compnay are you with? Did you have to pay fire brigade costs - these might also be covered under the policy conditions. Take photos before any cleanup if possible.

Short answer is yes, excluding the damage to the floor which forms part of the buildings and insured by the management policy. Clothes, floor coverings and bedding will be adjusted for wear & tear but the rest should be for full value

Call them ASAP. Let them get their assessor out to review the damage.

I can tell you the more open and honest you are with the insurance co / assessor the less they are likely to decline their claim.

I can also tell you the longer you leave it to claim the dimmer view they take of it.

Just call 'em and suggest they employ repairmen etc.
