Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Do ugly people find other ugly people attractive?

This is a weird one, and there are a couple of questions around it too.

Do ugly people find other ugly people attractive?

Do ugly people rate other ugly people's looks as higher than an attractive person would?

Do ugly people find attractive people more attractive than an attractive person would?

In my experience, as somebody who considers myself moderately attractive (pics or gtfo, hilarious) I would try to mate with people who are more attractive than I, or at least as attractive. I am taking personality out of the equation here, but I would also say that I would avoid mating with people whom I would consider ugly, as I am not attracted to them. Any thoughts on this?

If they're ugly they don't really have a choice.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For someone a nice smile might be enough to see past other discrepancies. For example some see vanity as a horrible trait and can't see past it. I don't think anyone ever gets with someone unless there is something there no matter how bad either of them are. A good personality can push an average person into a higher bracket. Looks aren't everything and thats why you see couples where one is a 7 and the other is a 5.

I'd say most "ugly" people realize early on the value of a good personality so looks are just not as important to them. Also, what you consider ugly might be attractive to someone else. I know people who find red hair and pale skin unattractive but I actually really like girls with red hair/pale skin. It's all subjective really.

Yes, I find my fellow ugly people attractive.

Bigotry and shallowness are two of the ugly qualities which attract me to other ugly people.
    Idiocy is another.

I would much rather be with someone who was physically ugly rather than have an ugly personality. There are relatively very few ugly people around so thats not really a problem.

All other things being equal, everybody strives to mate with the most objectively attractive partner they can.

Ugly people don't find each other as attractive as they find attractive people attractive, obviously. They only mate with other ugly people because they have no other choice...the people they fancy most are able to find other attractive people to mate with..so the ugly people have to just put up with mating with someone they don't actually fancy that much. Of course they will deny this and say that they fancy their ugly partner but deep down they either wish they were with somebody else or they wish their partner was more attractive.

I thought the above was just default knowledge for adult human beings to have  Your opening post seems coherent enough so I don't think you're stupid, so I assume you're trolling!

They actually aren't. Well dressed and stylish, but not necessarily attractive. The main guy isn't all that good looking.

They learn to live with what they can get.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,648 ✭✭✭desertcircus

It's all about personal tastes. I know people who are convinced that the only attractive woman in Marilyn Manson's "Sweet Dreams" video is the blonde cheerleader; suffice to say, I don't quite agree. Likewise, I'm fairly certain that to plenty of women, I'm nothing to write home about, and I like to think that other women kind of like shaved heads and goatees.

As someone else said, there are really not that many genuinely ugly people out there.

that may well be the case now, disgusting none the less, how would you like to be called a dog or a pig?

Hang on, there's such a thing as "objectively attractive"? Really?

Anyone who doubts that all sorts of people are attractive to all sorts of other people should take a look at what's on offer on any porn site. A market that supports every conceivable perversion and shows any type of woman you can imagine doing it is not a market with one type of "objectively attractive" womanhood being lusted after.

I always thought attractiveness was like a currency. You can cash your attractiveness in for something about the same price as you and if you get lucky you can find a bargain (drunk girl with low self esteem in a dark night club).

Give over, you're like one of those people going around calling others a homophobe because they use the word "gay" to describe something unpleasant even though the vast majority of gay people use that same word in the same context.

You actually didn't fix my post. You ruined it. The model I described in my post is a model that fits everyone, regardless of whether they are attractive or not. A bargain being someone with lower self esteem than you indicates that the prize bargain still has value in that her self esteem is low enough for your bracket of attractiveness yet high enough that you're pulling above your weight.

If she has no self esteem there is less of an exclusivity about it and thus the bargain is depreciated seeing as people who are far less attractive are still in with a chance. So in the case I described the model fits all, where as by you fixing it, it kind of ruins the idea.

If however your post was intended to be some kind of witty jab at me in exchange for a bunch of people thanking your post then let me respond with: u rgay

No, it doesn't compare at all. And I am in no way an overly sensitive person, but I've rarely heard a guy calling a girl a 'bird' respectfully, I certainly would have no time for a guy that referred to me that way. I like a bit of class, so shoot me!!!

If anyone says "bird" to a girls face in reference to that girl then obviously the guy isn't being all that classy. It's perfectly find to say it indirectly about someone or casually with friends.

I guess what I mean to say is that I don't care if you find it offensive.
