Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/news/products/q/date/2010/10/20/hawaiian-ironman-exocet-special-offer

Without getting into the tedious agrument about whether the bike is stiff or not, has anyone seen this offer?

What does anyone make of it? Good deal or otherwise? Seems that the same spec bike but with different wheels is over a grand more expensive.

To my un-trained eye it looks a better deal than the Stealth Pro Carbon SRAM Rival for €1,600. Will be buying a tt bike in the next 6 months but had only intended in forking out €1,600 - €1,700, but a bargains a bargain!!

"SRAM Red". Apart from the chain, cassette, shifters, BB, crankset and brakes.

So just the mechs then.

Is there such a thing as SRAM Red TT shifters? Or TT Brake Levers?

And I was aware it was only the mechs. But, does it represent god value?

Well, Red is the top-end road group, and Red components generally have designation 1090 (1070 for Force, 1050 for Rival)..

The top-end SRAM TT shifters are the SRAM TT 1090-RTC.

I think the marketing is misleading.

How are they calling this a 'Red' build? Not a single Red componant on it

Edit: Missed 'SRAM Red Front Mech'

Ok, so it's only a partial SRAM red groupset while the stealth pro deal is only a rival groupset. Also this offer comes a much higher spec wheelset than the stealth on what seems to be a much better frame. Seems a lot for an extra €700.

Which ever one you go for you will probably end up buying a shallower section front wheel. I bought the stealth with 101/82 section rims and found the front 82 too dangerous in wind speeds above 15Km/h which is most days in Ireland. (I'm not alone in this either).
If I had a second chance I would buy a rear disk and 50mm front rim.
I used the 82mm rim in only 2 out of 11 TT's this year due to high winds and after getting a few bad frights from the air pressure waves when trucks and busses overtook me.
