Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Great snow in Hintertux Oct 2010

I am just back from a week in Hintertux ( traveled via Munich with Aer Lingus) and snow conditions are great. The first two days of the week (Oct 15 & 16 ) had decent snow even if some parts of the glacier had ice showing in patches and the 15th was gloriously sunny with the 16th very cloudy. Sat and sun morning saw a good fall of snow with much of the mountain showing a covering of snow. Visibility varied from gloriously sunny at the top to quite limited lower down the slopes. At all points of the week skiers could traveled from summit at 3200 mtrs to just in from of the restaurant ( Tuxer Fernhouse at 2660 mtrs ) The only disadvantage for the first two days was that skiers had to walk about 30 metres from the restaurant to the Gletscher Bus to return to Gefrorene Wand at 3200 mtrs. Further snow fell during the next few days and slopes had wonderful cover. Temperatures at the top varied from approx -2 at the top to -12 on the final day and visibility also varied from very sunny to heavy cloud cover. On the final afternoon, temp was - 12 with winds and poor visibility, so only the determined and hardy stayed on the slopes.
There were skiing and snow board teams from quite a few countries ( including China, Poland, Germany and Spain) training in Hintertux so the atmosphere was great. The ski park was in great condition also.
I fyou are loking for Oct Nov skiing, head to Hintertux ! :)

Probably one of the best early season spots for a bit of skiing or boarding.

The reason you seen so many teams was probably prep for the opening season race in Solden.

Only problem with Tux is the village is a little soulless but the skiing is great and the modern lifts and facilities on the hill are super.

This week the whole valley, right down to Mayerhofen, got shat on and there is tons of snow. People digging their cars out etc

Halldor and Kareem riding down Tux. Looks like a good 1m base. Nice!

Check out the video posted from just a few days before riding on the Glacier. Things changed quick!
