Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Aer Corps jet makes emergency landing

An Aer Corps jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Kerry today.

The warning lights came on in the cockpit of the Cessna aircraft which had been on routine sea patrol.

This forced the crew to make the emergency landing at Farranfore.

Although one of the main engines was shut down as a precaution the plane landed safely and no one was injured.

Aircraft engineers from Baldonnel are now examining the jet.

Its Air Corps OR Aer Chór na h-Éireann

And we dont have "Cessna Jets", My guess here is it was one of the CASA's.

Air Corps plane in emergency landing

An Air Corps sea patrol plane was forced to make an emergency landing today due to an engine problem.

The Casa aircraft landed safely at Kerry airport in Farranfore after warning lights in the cockpit went off.

The Defence Forces said all six crew were safe and well.

The aircraft had been on a routine maritime patrol off the west coast at the time of the alert.

A spokesman said one of the aircraft’s two engines was shut down as a precaution, and a controlled emergency landing carried out without incident. The aircraft touched down at 11.55am.

An Air Corps technical team from Baldonnel is to examine the aircraft in Farranfore.

Are the IAC playing with fire by just using one CASA, AFAIK the other is still WFU?

Is this a trend now to worry about with the CASA(S) Fleet??

So when do the IAC Cessnas end up on the US Civilian Market? I can't afford a Marchetti right now ($160k), maybe the RM-172s will be more do-able...

Maritime Patrol aircraft CASA "Charlie 252" made a successful emergency landing in Kerry airport earlier today having conducted a precautionary engine shutdown procedure. The six crew, three hours into a routine maritime patrol approximately 100nm off the West Coast were alerted to a problem associated with the engine bleed air system. The nature of the emergency called for a precautionary engine shutdown. The crew then diverted to Kerry where a successful single engine landing was performed. Well done to the patrol crew and to the Air traffic and Emergency services at Kerry on a successful conclusion. An Air Corps technical team is currently examining the cause of the incident. The patrol was the 264th to date in 2010.

course you didn't, its a weekend...

is there a problem with the CASA's? not enough/incorrect spares in the supply chain, not enough skilled technicians to do the planned maintainence/overhauls?

i would offer some Nimrods, but we're trying to keep hold of them...

I think we have a sick one in Bal and an injury prone one in Kerry. Telltale sign is the position of the tri-colour, its way off.

is this an unfortunate run of luck affecting an otherwise coherant and well managed program, or is this a symptom of a deeper problem with the CASA's and the IAC?

Both CASA's have been operating on a regular basis, I think the mis-match on the tail might be from the overhaul that they had in Spain....

Passed kerry airport this evening at about 6pm and there was no sign of the CASA. It could have been moved form it previous parking spot but I couldn't see it anywhere as I drove passed at 100km/hr!
