I like a lot of types of music. In this order 1.Rock 2.Rap 3.Dance.

I was listening to a dance mix by soulwax, as heard on radio soulwax vol. 2. One song totally stuck out. I googled it and it was a band called queen of japan doing a cover of I was made for loving you.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTJXuxxhQ0g&has_verified=1

Today I was listening to a playlist of jesus lizard and in it was the melvins cover of going blind.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmX_7B8c-ww

Those two songs are absolutely out of this world. I'm not totally familiar with Kiss. I have a best of thats ok but going blind isn't on it.

Are there any other Kiss gems of that quality. In my opinion they don't sound like regular upbeat stadium rock that Kiss do, all due respect.

I think what attracts me is that they are at a slightly slower tempo than the others.

So if a loyal learned member of the Kiss Army is out there and can give me a few pointers I'd be very grateful.

Hey. I'm a huge KISS fan, and a Paul Stanley fanatic !
I'd suggest songs like : Do you love me, Crazy nights,Psycho Circus, God gave Rock 'n' Roll to you, Shock me, Hot in the shade, Modern day Delilah, etc.
Have a look on youtube ^.^

I think if you have a "Best of ..." you've got pretty much their "big hits" ... so if you don't like what you hear there , Kiss aint for you ...

for obscure , slower tempo Kiss tunes try :

    Just a Boy
    Mr Blackwell
    Only You
    Under The Rose
    Dark Light
    I

.... ah just get the Music From The Elder album ...

I'm a huge Kiss fan, and more than likely in the minority (as the band don't like the album at all) but I really like a couple of tracks on Unmasked if you are looking for something different....

    "Naked City" and "Tomorrow"

and from what I remember of some of the Greatest Hits (I've never found much value in Greatest Hits when you have all the albums.....)
don't have "I Want You" from Rock And Roll Over.......

    Black Diamond springs to mind.

In the spirit of what seems like a theme around R&M at the moment, I've decided to acquaint myself with the Kiss discography. I now see the reason for your impressively dramatic pic cherub rock :D. I'd like to see these guys live, quality stuff.

    Beth
    Going Blind
    Deuce
    Strutter
God gave rock and roll to you 2
    God of Thunder
    Shout it out Loud
    Detroit Rock City
    War Machine
    Sure Know Something
    Comin Home

They're a great band who are unfairly maligned as being nothing but the inspiration for 80s wrestling. Destroyer is their best studio album by a far stretch but all of their 70's albums are great

You missed an absolutely amazing show last may in the o2. Best stage show i've ever seen and second best gig i've been too (ac/dc in o2 claiming the top spot). They played all the hits with a smattering of new stuff (which is great also) while going completely over the top. It was shocking that the place was probably only half full, at €50 a ticket it was an absolute bargain, would go again in a heartbeat.

    BLACK DIAMOND!!!!

    BLACK DIAMOND!!!

    BLACK DIAMOND!!!

and yes, that gig earlier in the year was immense. flamethrowers, flying around the crowd on cables, singing from the rafters, a drum riser that tilted at angles, and some stomping tunes. Result.

Lick It Up and Heavens On Fire will remain my favourite Kiss songs. Though God Of Thunder has a pretty cool riff.
