    Hi there.

Moved to the Help Desk - the Dispute Resolution forum is for people who have an issue with a ban or an infraction (and there's a massive:D notice on the page to that effect).

Site members are chosen as moderators based on their previous contribution to the site, their ability to keep a clear head and not to get involved in things like personalised slugging matches with other members. They need to be the sort of people who are willing to give some time to keep the forum they're in charge of running smoothly. Generally, moderators have been using the site for a good amount of time so they've an idea of what's acceptable and what's not. The final decision on moderator selection lies with the site admins.

Basically, very rarely do you ask to become a mod. Your asked if you want to become a mod.

Depending on the forum, your contribution, how you get on with the other posters, your post history, have you received bannings, infractions, etc etc etc, are all looked at.
