Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Only a matter of time before Meireles starts to bang them in, he can really hit them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

    Meireles can hit em

Blackburn throwing everything in front of the goal to block them

So far I think it's safe to say this is the best we've been all season.

Quite sad considering we're not even winning!

Maxi looks very up for it

Yep, by far. Torres has seen more of the ball in 40 minutes than in the whole season up to now.

Soto is a bloody menace from corner kicks.

From reading this thread it sounds like we're playing well with attacking football? Am I right?

    Are Blackburn posing any threat?

Blackburn haven't threatened at all so far, too busy defending!

We should be in the lead. By far the better team.

Blackburn havn't really offered much so far.

Paul Robinson has been great in goal for them.

Hmm, so then playing well (!) but not scoring. Diouf is nailed on then :(

Best half of football under Roy.
Counts for nothing coz we havn't scored though.

Blackburn have offered nothing at all. Real relegation fodder on this evidence.

Best performance of the season so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,021 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Robinson is producing the performance of his life here.

What happened to that farce of a keeper that used to play for England
He has been like this since last season. I don't know what happened since Allardyce came in but he really improved a lot.

Its kind of like what happened to Friedel though when he came to Rovers. He wasn't great for the first couple of months but once he settled in and realised he was the undisputed no.1 at the club he started to play great stuff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,139 ✭✭✭stumpypeeps

Liverpool playing well. Especially Gerrard, Meireles and Lucas. Real purpose to their attacks, swift direct and menacing. Should we continue in this fashion the breakthrough will have to come. If it does, Hodgson's position becomes a little more assured.

I've always said he was the right man for the job anyway. :o

Blackburn must have the Premier League's best goalkeeping coach

Hasn't saved them from being on the brink of the relegation zone. They'll probably be OK but they need to start getting something away from home.

You are basing this on 45 minutes of football?

I honestly think its down to the more relaxed atmosphere, less pressure and all that.

Away form in general. They've been dire today in particular however.

Signs have been encouraging with Torres, he has a bounce in his step I haven't seen in ages and for the first time only looks a game or two away from full fitness. Meireles is still getting used to the pace of the premiership but you can see he is quality and had some nice moments, I think in time he will be a top top player for us. Everyone has played well and without a doubt the best half of football we have played this season. That said its in no small part thanks to Blackburn who have been awful sitting very deep inviting us on and giving us tonnes of space to pass it around.

    Goal please!!

    Opr

How have they been dire exactly? The game is still level, the game isn't all about attacking.

Blackburn have a great home record and so some decent away results, including some possible draws against big clubs will keep you up easily.

They haven't only suddenly got bad away from home this year.

Today they play without their first choice central defense pairing, and are still Level after what has been arguably Liverpool's best 45mins of the season.

They still pose a threat from set pieces, and with a continued good defensive display in the 2nd half, they only need to take one of those to win it.

I still think Liverpool will win though.

Poulsen shouldn't get near our midfield anytime soon if Lucas and Meireles can play like this together more often

And Benjani for Kalinic confirms that for me.

We have 1 win, 1 draw and 2 losses away from home to date and that included the game against Birmingham which we should have won but ended up losing somehow.

The club target is 11th place or 50 points. Playing to the form that we have to this point in the league would get us 19 points away from home. That would leave us only needing 31 at home to achieve that target. Our away form is better than last year already.

    Games restarted.
    Any changes?

They've offered nothing going forward at all. Your keeper has been you MOTM, says it all. As predicted your style of play actually suits Liverpool. "Posing a threat from set pieces" always strikes me as a bit LOL - if you have a corner kick against someone then of course its a threat of some kind!

I do agree with you Liverpool will win.

I was just going to say if corner counts could win a game then Liverpool would be cruising.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,021 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Ah well can't say they didn't deserve that tbf. Hopefully we can keep the score down because it could get out of hand if they get another one.

Liverpool appear to be a threat from set-pieces.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,743 ✭✭✭Revolution9

    Same, I think we'll win.

    2-1
With Torres scoring and Soto heading one in from a corner kick

What did I tell ya lads :D

I never said they offered anything going forward though, I was saying they had a great first half display. I'm well aware Blackburn have absolutely nothing to offer up front.

In terms of set pieces was more referring to long punted free kicks and some long throws too.

    And its level,

    Dioooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooouf :D
