Decided to start logging my football bets here so I can stop making stupid bets and focus on making a good profit. At the moment I'd say I'm semi successful, probably down altogether but not a whole lot.

My main focus will be on Premiership and Championship games, however I'll be nibbling at LOI, La Liga, Bundesliga and a few of the South American leagues. I've just won my last bet which puts my account up to €63.89 - hoping that I don't have to deposit anymore.

Hopefully I can give and receive advice here and we can all make lots of money :)

Right, first bet of the log is a double. All prices shown are from PP

WIN Cardiff 6/4 away to Leeds, admittedly a gamble but I wasn't that impressed with Leeds recently, good win against Boro but poor game against Leicester. Cardiff can score goals and are my pick to win promotion this season.

WIN AC Milan 4/6 DNB away to Napoli - I hate choosing two away teams but have done Milan DNB as I think 0-0 or 1-1 are distinct possibilities. I do fancy Milan to win but if they draw I can still count on Cardiff.

    Bank: €63.89
    Stake: €13.89
    Potential Returns: €57.88

    Balance: €50

PP are currently offering 17/10 on Real Madrid -2 against Real Murcia on Tuesday night. Obviously it won't be a full strength team out but I still reckon Madrid will do serious damage and that 17/10 looks good value. I'll wait till I see the lineup but will probably have 20 on it anyway.

LOSE Gone for double of AC Milan win @ 6/4 (already have them DNB) with Draw/Real Sociedad vs Deportivo @ 7/2

    Bank: €50
    Stake: €5
    Potential Returns: €56.25

    Balance: €45

Good night for me, pity Real Sociedad scored so early though! I had a treble on from before my log started but I'm going to count it as part of my bankroll anyway, it was Cardiff, Utd and Rangers all to win, €5 returned €71. AC Milan DNB double with Cardiff also came in, €13.89 returned €57.88.

Wasted a fiver of my bank on a horse aswell today, ah well..

    Bank: €159.13
    Profit €95.24

Tomorrow has some nice action and I'm hoping to make a bit of money. Think Bayern Munich are due a good win over Bremen tomorrow night and 3/4 at home is a great price, form says otherwise but I think they're a cert. Also they have much more squad depth and with two weakened teams it could be a route. Looking at Bayern -1 at 21/10.

Wigan and Swansea is another lovely match up, Martinez will not want to lose to his old club and think he will field a strong enough team. Swansea are hard to score against at home but travelling to Wigan I think they will be beaten 1-0 or 2-0. Also 10/11 at home? Great price!

Was thinking about doing Real Madrid -2 against 3rd division side Real Murcia, have opted for a much safer -1 now. Can't say this game being won by just 1 goal but I've been wrong before.

Finally West Brom away to Leicester and WBA at 6/5 sounds good to me, Leicester are ****e and with the form WBA are in at the moment I think it'll be an easy victory.

Will do the 4 of these in an accumulator and also one or two doubles aswell.

    Bank: €159.13
    Stake: €9.13
    Potential Returns: €108.40
    Balance: €150

    Bayern Munich -1 @ 21/10
    Real Madrid -1 @ 8/13

    Stake: €20
    Potential Returns: €200.31
    Balance: €130

    Barcelona -1 @ 8/11
    Man Utd / Man Utd @ 5/6
    Real Madrid -2 @ 17/10

    Just spent a tenner on half time / full time results in Utd game, 1-0 / 2-1 €4 @ 25/1 2-0 / 3-0 €4 @ 20/1 and the most likely one 0-0 / 1-0 €2 @ 11/1
    Bank: €130
    Stake: €10 + €10
    Potential Returns: €85.50 + €24 + €104 + €84
    Balance: €110

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,235 ✭✭✭Dave147

    Man Utd Handicap draw -2 @ 3/1
Last bet for tonight, don't think I'll do anymore as that's €59.13 in bets now.

    Bank: €110
    Stake: €10
    Potential Returns: €40
    Balance: €100

It's considered good manners around here to include a screen shot. I know you have it logged in the Football Betting forum, but just for future reference :)

Good work, nice profit so far. I just cant bet on domestic football these days, in any league that is. Any luck I get seems to only come from European clashes.

Cheers for the replies, didn't even think of the screenshot but here goes anyway.. Have a good feeling about tomorrow's selections though, Real Madrid should be good for 3-0, Mourinho is adamant that they'll impress.

Ah you didn't even need to post that one, like I said I had already seen it in the football betting forum, I just meant it for future reference is all mate! Good start, best of luck!

Nightmare of a day today, had the Wigan game right, the WBA game right and Bayern right, unfortunately Real Madrid are a bunch of langers as are Man Utd. Also lost €20 on a stupid horse!

    Bank: €60

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,235 ✭✭✭Dave147

Going to try and make big one here with a double of Stoke @ 21/10 against West Ham and Aston Villa @ 4/7 home to Burnley. Think Hammers are going to get hammered (bad pun) and Villa should scrape a 1 or 2 nil win. So for this reason it's **** or bust!

    Aston Villa 4/7
    Stoke 21/10
    Stake: €60
    Potential Returns: €292.92
    Balance: €0

You had Bayern wrong, you bet -1 and it finished 2-1. Birmingham also let you down.

Good luck with the Villa/Stoke double.

I had them in a seperate double with United ht ft.. Bad day but have alot of confidence in Stoke tomorrow, more so than Villa..

however confident you are in stoke it makes no since putting your whole bank on a double of all things, just because you had 1 bad day does not mean you have to go chasing the losses by risking everything..

Good advice. Is there a target profit for this log?

I'm very sorry, would you be able to post the rules for how much of my bank I'm allowed bet on one double? I'm new to this log thing so I'm not sure. Here's your muppet eyes back :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

60 euro isn't my entire bankroll, it was just my starting bank, I will start with a new bank and start with a profit of -60. It was a risk, but I was confident in the double, unfortunately it didn't pay off but I'm not going to cry about it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,235 ✭✭✭Dave147

And typically both ****ing teams would be winning after 6 minutes extra time.. Next time Paddy Power... next time.. ;)

RULE 1:Never ever bet your entire bank roll on 1 bet.No matter how confident you are in your selection.

RULE 2: Dont turn a blind eye to legitimate advice, and then be so arrogant to slate someone for it.

    RULE 3:Never chase losses.

now unfortunately you have done all three, not to worry im sure you will learn one way or the other.

OHH of course it was, sorry,we should of known that,im going putting my entire balance on a horse tomo,if it losses, dont worry it was only my starting bank, its not my entire bankroll...:p.

im only retaliating in the same child-like manner you did, so dont go telling on me..

I give you your snide unhelpful sarcasm back and you retaliate? Maybe if you approached the thread like you seem to be unable to do, i.e. a bit of diplomacy I would have said fair enough but you came on like a prick who knows it all.

Anyway I'm not going to be trolled or baited further, back up on the horse I go, I don't want to make enemies on this forum but you attacked (for want of a better word) me for no reason other than over my own decision, to bet my bank of 60 euro on one bet. I would agree if my bet had been 500 euro that I had saved up, however it's a different circumstance and my style of betting differs to yours, please respect that.

    Truce.

It's funny, it was the rolleyes that set me off. They piss the unholy hell out of me, if you misused them I apologise, I take your point before them wholeheartedly, to some degree I was chasing, to another degree I had confidence and tried to maximise profit. But you cannot compare a bank of 60 euro to a bank of a few hundred. Also the fact I have money behind helps, it may seem irrelevant but it means I can afford to take risks like this one tonight and not be overly upset about it.

I think you know your stuff about gambling so don't want to be arguing over difference of opinion, I'm intelligent and hopefully my results in gambling will help to prove that :)

    Group hug. :)

Dave147 I hope you start a new log. I liked your starting double Cardiff and Milan. You said you want this to make you gamble better and stop making stupid bets etc. Might I suggest setting a bank, and a couple of set rules for yourself, and use this forum to keep a running log for a month or two and see where you're at?

You seem to like multiples. So how about you pick out only football doubles and bet only 1 or 2 points. Say €5 on each double, €10 if you see real value. You can keep your other bets out of the log and still follow other things. But I reckon if you're good at one particular bet (I'm only suggesting multiples, you might prefer a different bet) then it's best to start there. Give it a few weeks then re-evaluate, maybe change your point structure or add another bet, but it should give you a good starting point for the log to give you more control of your bank....it will stop you chasing with the 2pt cap, and also eliminate all this "I lost €20 on this other game/horse not posted here which affects my log"

Just a suggestion, mainly because I'd like to see what you can do over a couple of weeks. I'm no expert, but there's a lot of good logs here which owe a lot to keeping a rigid system of points betting. I'm more of a lurker than a poster here but it's an excellent community. Coughlan has taken as much stick as anyone but really everyone is looking for people to make money off the bookies, not to knock them.

    Noooooo. :pac:

Just top up the balance in this thread, anyone starting multiple logs (due to losing their starting bank) will have their new thread moved into the old one, no need clogging up the forum and such.

Best of luck with the thread Dave, gamble how you want to gamble, you've to make mistakes to learn from them and spend money to make money.

I absolutely hate all the "" that people give, does my head in too and comes across as complete and utter arrogance but I think Coughlan just doesn't use it in the right place! Coughlans rolleyes is another mans smiley face. :pac:

All the best dude, with less tilting and more composure you'll do well I'm sure. :)

That's what I meant. New log, start afresh. Not new thread.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,235 ✭✭✭Dave147

Yeah I'll be starting a new log on this thread, with a fixed bank of my own money and take it from there. I'll try and avoid tilting, unfortunately the bank I started with I was after winning so I kinda felt like I was freerolling after I had already withdrawn my original deposit.

I will be doing golf bets in the next log aswell as I've had 4 winners in the last 3 months, including a special Martin Kaymer at 55-1 and 16-1 :)

Thanks for the advice lads, next step: Bankrupt Paddy Power :)

Depositing 100 into Paddy Power this week anyway and starting from scratch. Had a great weekend with a 500 euro win playing Texas in the Casino and a tidy 15e at 3/1 on Liverpool 1-0 betting in play in the bookies.
