Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Need help spotting fake Monster Beats by Dr Dre

    Hey

Today I'm going to look at a pair of Beats Tour by Dr Dre. I know the fake Beats are flooding in from Asia and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to tell the real from the fake?

I've watched all the videos on Youtube but I'm guessing as more and more people post these videos, the manufacturers are constantly getting closer and closer to the real thing?

I've told the guy that I'm driving about an hour to come see them and asked him not to waste my time. He assured me they were real and said he has the product serial number to prove it. They also have the Controltalk function. At €70 this seems like a steal as they retail at €159.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice? Any info I should be equipped with while going to see them?

My advice would be to ignore any electronic product that has an artist endorsement such as Dr Dre - spend your money on a brand that focus on true sound quality such as Sennheiser. These are very good....

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-Ear-Canal-High-Fidelity-Enhanced-Response/dp/B00125UBUG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1288129802&sr=8-1

Edit - if you are totally set on buying these, maybe ask if the guy has a receipt?

    Fake ones probably sound better.

    :D

I know it is probably too late for the OP but for anyone else reading, just buy a brand like Audio Technica that is only noted for superior sound quality and not for being a fashion accessory. If it isn't seen as cool then there is less chance of fakes being made.

totally agree...ignore the artist endorsed headphones. You may aswell just buy 30 of his albums. If you want proper headphones (over ear)

    Or Shure in ears.

Indeed, bullet proof headphones and sound fantastic. I've had a set several years now and showing a little wear but they've been bashed around the place many times over the years and still work perfectly.

Thinking about buying these lads - http://www.adverts.ie/other-electronics/beats-by-dre-tour/1088087

Not sure if they fake or not as he has no receipt but he did give me the serial number? Is there anywhere I can check this to see if they are genuine?

    Cheers,
    M

Even if they're real... it's terrible value. Buy something that sounds good instead like Fischer DBA-02s, Klipsch S4s, Meelec A151s... or anything else, really.
