    Hi,

Looking at myhome and daft over the weekend and came across the few new build out that way

    http://www.myhome.ie/161900 newcastle lyons

    http://www.myhome.ie/394859 Castlyons

    http://www.myhome.ie/120522 Ballynakelly

http://www.myhome.ie/202798 The show house from Newcastle Manor

Anybody know anything about the area, has it settled, much trouble? looking online i've found the news report from few years back about the guy being gunned down in his house. Also another board have something about families being moved into a show house while shoddy work was fixed in their own house, would this be why the show houses in the manor are only up for sale now??

Of course the inal question, Do any of these seem like value in the current market?

We moved into Newcastle 2 years ago now & have never looked back. It's a grand little village, with a lovely school & our neighbours are all great.

The showhouses in the Manor are only going up for sale now as they were still owned by the developer until they went into liquidation last February. They are a liquidators sale, so maybe some room for negotation.

I do know that they had to retro upgrade the noise attenuation in both apartments & houses shortly after they were occupied, but we did not live here then so I can't really say anymore than I know it was done.

I for one have never heard a bit of trouble at any time night or day & suspect that shooting incident was nothing to do with the area.
As to whether the houses you listed are good value for money - hard to say really, there are loads of second hand houses for sale too, so you may have more wriggle room on the price if you were to go down that route.
In short - Newcastle is a lovely spot to live, it's quiet, has loads of sports & social groups for both adults & kids, a good little school & it's close to the N/M7, M4 & m50. A taxi from town is around €30 & the luas will be coming to sagart (just the other side of the N7) shortly.
    Happy house hunting OP
