Luxe.TV, the European thematic channel covering the world of luxury, has run out of money: the Luxembourg Commercial Court has declared operating company DVL.TV SA bankrupt, reports Luxembourg newspaper "Luxemburger Tageblatt“ with 13 employees affected by the parent company‘s downfall.

In August, the channel made 24 employees redundant, earlier having decided to close down all production activities in Luxembourg. Since its creation five years ago, the company has only posted severe losses, writes the newspaper.

Luxe.TV, which focuses on luxury products and lifestyles, launched in June 2006. One of its founders was Jean Stock, the previous president of TV5 Monde, CFI and general secretary of the EBU. The channel, which is distributed on eleven satellites in six languages, reaches more than 385 million viewers in 63 countries. Transmissions are currently still ongoing.
