Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any specific reason you think it's bad?

SP1 has no new features, it is merely a collection of security updates and such. Therefore if you have been keeping your OS updated, there is little point in downloading this unless you want to slipstream the installer.

Well maybe bad was a strong word. just dont seem to have improved anything and it is really slow to run... so not worth upgrading .but this is only my opinion.

At the expense of fixing a number of bugs, more bugs than the number of bugs fixed will be introduced :D

Speaking personally Windows 7 rules. I just rolled out Windows 7 pro across all our PC's at work and it runs so much smoother. I'm running a small windows SBS 2008 domain across a multi location VPN, which has limited bandwidth. The difference between windows 7 pro and xp pro is startling, logging in times and folder browsing is much improved.

It's also much easier to multi task with the new aero GUI, I can quickly glance across multiple windows just by gliding the mouse. I also haven't noticed any slowdown in apps, they maybe even a little faster. I use Photoshop and Flashpro CS5 and they run just as well if not better on windows 7.

I have had zero issues with software or hardware compatibility. No crashing, no driver issues all the programs that we ran under XP work just as well in 7. This is the first OS migration that I've overseen to go off without a hitch, really chuffed with windows 7.

Define slow to run: yes it has a bigger hardware overhead but in terms of Getting Stuff Done it's much faster.

Try loading Disk Management in XP

Once you've done enough googling and have figured that out, start Disk Management in Windows 7.

The Start menu integration with Steam and Firefox is also pretty slick too.

With both you can just right click my computer and choose manage :P . But it is a nice feature the start menu search alrite, Also Windows XP faster than 7? Actually 7 runs much faster and smoother than XP did on my old Dell laptop, its a basic dual core, 2 gig ram, some intel gma video, id say nearly 4 or so years old now!

I reckon Windows 7 is the fastest Win OS bang for buck when you consider what it loads and what it does.

You have to be sensible though, I have a laptop and a PC. My minimum ram spec now is 4GB (ram is so cheap these days) and if you couple that with a couple of cores, it's blistering. My laptop is 4 years old, I upped it to 4GB and put Win7 64bit on it - never been better or faster.

    Thanks for the comment

Spec of the laptops? Are they the exact same?

  • Registered Users Posts: 56 ✭✭seanw7

The Laptops are more or less the same , both Dell business laptops, might be different Ram or maybe different memory but that wouldnt affect the speed.. which is my main complaint

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 734 ✭✭✭twinsen

I dont want to be mean, but RAM is memory.

It would affect the speed. You're not comparing like with like.

This is for testing only - do not put on a machine you don't mind rebuilding, from scratch
The software will stop running on November 30, 2011. You may not receive any other notice. You may not be able to access data used with the software when it stops running. It is important to note that you must uninstall the Service Pack 1 Release Candidate prior to installing future builds, including the final release, of the Service Pack.Upgrades from the beta or release candidate will not be supported.
