surely we cannot stand by and watch politicians shaft the country, we had a financial re gulator one wonders what he did, then there are all the others how do you define their role, one presume the down trodden masses must say nothing. There must be standards of acceptability and a point where we should be able to make politicians liable for their actions.

By the way, it's gas that you phrase it as "questioning their authority"; that is precisely how democracy works.

If FF decided in the morning to legislate for, say, bulldozing all houses and forcing everyone to move to Donegal so as to pay off the debt by selling the country to America, would you "question their authority" ?

If so, why not "question their authority" on NAMA & Anglo ?

I don't agree. Democracy works by questioning their decision making and offering alternative decisions for the electorate to chose from. Questioning their authority to make decisions is a different matter entirely and is actually an attack on the democratic process.

Questioning authority is perfectly valid when people overstep the mark with their decisions.

Adding countless (and unknown) billions to our valid NATIONAL debt with the debt of PRIVATE gamblers certainly applies.

An employer is perfectly entitled to ask an employee "who gave you the authority to do that ?" Or point out "A decision of that magnitude is not in your job description", and the muppets in the Dáil are (unfortunately) our employees.
