    As the title suggests...
Need something mainly for connecting to the PS3 and playing games on.
    Something between 20-23" would do.
Don't need speakers or any fancy stuff (would be using it with headphones or external speakers). Just good picture quality and basically all the stuff that would make a good gaming monitor...Guess you guys know the best about this stuff hence I'm here...

    Thanks for the help! :)

You will probably want one with at least one if not two HDMI connections on account of the PS3 (Be wary not all 1080p monitors actually have HDMI input only VGA and DVI). Each HDMI input seems to add about 30 Euro to the price of a monitor. :o

A good low referesh rate is a must for a good gaming monitor (2 or 5 ms at most).

Something like this 24" LG for 229 (23-23" versions of this with 2ms refresh and HDMI connector are around 150 - 170 ish).

Look out for Samsung or Ilyama brands either and shop around for the best deal.

I've been looking around and came across this one:

What do you think of it??

Looks nice there is a bit of a price premium because of the integrated webcam, mic etc, over similar sized monitors (a regular 22" would be about 150 or so), but if you do want those extra features, then it certainly does tick all the other boxes that a good gaming monitor should (Including most importantly of all good customer feedback :)).

^I don't need the webcam and such. I was impressed by the fast response time and the reviews.

What do you think of this one?

Its over budget but it says its built for gaming and such... Would you think its overkill and a waste of money or is more expensive = better??

This guy's overbudget as well (won't mind the stretch if its really worth it!) but seems to be getting rave reviews... http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/4772347/art/acer/gd245hqbid-24-wide-tft-sc.html

Would you think it'ld be worth paying more for these more expensive monitors or would there be no big difference between these and the cheaper ones...??

€400 for that?! roflmao.gif I've seen 2ms LG screens for €150-200! You're paying up to €250 extra for the brand name!!:rolleyes::p

The Acer has one rave review :p But it looks okay :) The price comes from the fact that its a 3D-optimized (120Hz) panel ;)

I actually laughed out loud when I saw the prices for that.

Oh Alienware, selling to the rich and stupid (because seriously, anyone who buys that is both of those).

EDIT: I have a Samsung P2370, great 1080 monitor, especially for gaming with it's 2ms response time.

Yep if the XBox has HDMI as all later models do, bear in mind though that you would need external speakers for sound with that particular one.

    This one looks quite good!
It seems to have really good reviews and is very well priced.

Do any of you know where I could get this apart from pixmania? As i had a bad experience with pixmania once and try to avoid getting stuff from that website...

    Here's my experience this week:

Last Friday week my two and a half year old Samsung 24inch packed in with no advance warning. The power light flashes but the monitor does not respond at all. I looked up for the warranty and found out its got a 3 year collect from the door warranty, other Samsung products have only one year. I contacted Samsung and on this Monday coming they're bringing Me a brand new one and taking the broken one away. Yay for buying a Samsung

Is this a big difference between the 23" one and this one:
    http://elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=ECE1716756
I see LG don't make this one anymore (as there's only the 23" one on their website)...

I like the way you can collect the monitor from elara's warehouse. Its not too far from where I live... Would prefer that to ordering from pixmania which has absolutely zero customer service and is a nightmare to deal with if anything goes wrong...

well what,s an inch among friends eh no there would be little to no difference

Elara are great if anything goes wrong in my experience.
I was considering the LG monitor a while back but the bit of plastic at the bottom put me off. My research showed that a several Samsung models make a lot of buzzing noises.

Don't believe everything you see in the specs. Response times for one manufacturer can mean something else to another.
This is a good site for giving you a rough idea with comparisons. http://www.digitalversus.com/duels.php?ty=6

Hey, what do you guys think of this monitor??
    http://elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=WCELS24B5HVFHEN

This guy did a review of it on youtube and it looks very impressive...
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFsYeyMagcU

Its still quite expensive though. Would you say its better than the LG one??
I don't really care about tilt adjustments and viewing angle much as I won't really be staring at it from odd angles...

    There's even this one:
    http://elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=ECE1937518

Though I feel I might end up getting the LG monitor due to the price issues...

Don't have the space for anything bigger than 24"... (Even 24" would be a tight fit I guess)...

I'ld like a good quality 22-24" which I could keep for a few years instead of feeling like upgrading after a year.

Right now I'm just gonna be playing my PS3 games on it.
But in the future I'ld be doing a decent bit of photoshop editing and doing some light animation. I'ld still need decent colour accuracy for such stuff. Not doing any pro stuff so don't need perfect accuracy but I'ld still like it to be fairly accurate...

I could either buy the cheap LG monitor now and then when I buy a new computer, I could replace it with a better monitor. Or I could buy a more expensive monitor now which could be useful when I get my new computer...

I think I might end up buying the LG one as I am a bit stripped for cash right now...

The problem is that finding a monitor capable of top notch colour reproduction and is also good gaming monitor is quite hard. The LG is about as good quality a TFT panel as you will find to be honest. S-IPS panels are where it is at with regard to getting professional grade colour accuracy but they are expensive, and ones that have a low enough response rate to prevent ghosting and to be a decent gaming monitor are even more expensive again. (You will find alot of S-IPS monitors have around 8ms response times which is be borderline for gaming IMO).
