Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Could we not come to OT for once without the referee making a stupid fcuking decision...

    Absolutely outrageous decision!

Pure and utter disgrace. Stuff like that makes you wonder about why you bother watching football. You have to question the integrity of the referee there.

I'm very confused. Was it not a free out then?

haha what a goal. Great thinking by Nani, i can only assume Gomes touched the ball and put it in play.

We should have had a peno just before, justice for Fulham :)

    He's better than VDS though.

    LOUL Spurs.

Terrible bias from Waddle...claimed the Clattenberg had his back to the play when the clearly had not.

Its the old chestnut, play to the whistle, don't assume you got a free kick.

Brilliant out of Nani to have the cop on to put the ball in the net, and a valid goal imo

Absolutely fine goal. Don't know what the lino was flagging for.

The ref gave no decision prior to it, so in terms of what the ref sees, the keeper simply put the ball down and Nani knocked it in.

Nothing wrong with it from a United point of view.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

    Sorry.

The ref never gave a free kick. Never. So what the **** is the keeper doing, presuming that it was a free? Whether or not it was a free or not, it really is absolutely retarded by the keeper. Play the whistle, you learn it when you're ****ing five years old.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,207 ✭✭✭miralize

Well that's all a bit absurd.

Basically I think Spurs thought that it was a free kick, but it was never given.

You'd imagine if it wasn't a penalty (which imo it was), the ref would give a free kick for hand ball by Nani. But he didn't. The keeper rolls the ball onto the ground as if he thinks its a free kick, even though he does it like 6-7 yards away from where the free kick would be, Nani gets the ball and kicks it in the net.

That's basically what happened as far as I can tell.

So what are Spurs complaining about?, they completely switched off and thought a decision was given when it wasn't, and Nani took advantage of it.

    What a sham decision.

The ref didn't blow for a free so why was Gomes taking a free?

I dunno why people are bad mouthing the ref. He let the game play on, Gomes dropped the ball and left it there for Nani to bury. Blame the keeper TBH

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,523 ✭✭✭jambofc

nani was brought down gomes picked ball up ref said play on gomes rolled ball out nani scored

there was no whistle and ref waved for gomes to play away

Hopefully the ref will be taking a well earned break from premiership matches for a long time.

The fact that Nani intentionally put his hand on the ball perhaps.

Your right, but it should have been a free kick, Nani dived and handled the ball.

Might as well him throw it into the net really.

No he didn't as there was never a free kick given in the first place.

Nani went down (possibly a peno), handles the ball clearly, Gomes presumes it's a free kick and put the ball down, Nani taps the ball in.

If Clattenburg, who is a clown at the best of times, didn't blow his whistle for a peno or a free out then it's a legit goal.

Not sure why the linesman was flagging though.

Simply has to go down as a howler from Gomes. Funny how theres talk of the ref making a bad decision but ignoring him not giving the penalty in the first place.

Brilliant out of Nani?? Diving, handballing then having the audacity to kick the ball into an open net after already trying to cheat Spurs! Shocking in my opinion, disappointing cause he does have so much to offer with the outher side of his game.... Paolo Di Canio would be outraged at that lack of fair play!

Think he gave Nani a yellow for diving so we thought that meant it was a free

Theyre complaining coz Nani dived (arguably) and handballed (undisputable) so a free should have been given. Still stupid by Gomes.

It reminds me of Liverpools goal against Sunderland, a ref with any common sense wouldn't have allowed but it technically is a legitimate goal.

But the referee didn't give the free kick, therefore legitimate goal, and a howler from Gomes tbh

    So? the ref played on.

Giving a free gives them the ball a yard from the end line. Playing on Gomes kicks it out of his hands from the edge of the area.

I think the linesman was flagging because he saw the handball.

Frankly, I see absolutely nothing wrong with the goal. The ref never blew the whistle. Maybe he should have, but that happens about 20 times a game that a free isn't given. You don't just presume it is and go from there.

And frankly, Gomez put the ball down about 6 yards from where the free would in theory have been given.

Penalty?? What fcuking penalty?? He dived as he usually does and then handled the ball on the floor... Typical United always getting the big decisions then bítching about anything going against them....

Cry me a river. Your keeper is an idiot.

Do you think there's any chance, whatsoever, that VDS would do what Gomez did?
