Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi folks

For the past few weeks I have been getting an error on starting my pc
"CPU is unworkable or has been changed - Please check CPU Soft Menu"
If I hit F1 then the pc starts fine. However every so often when I try to start the pc - nothing happens, like as if there is no power. The solution I find to this is to open up the box and give a few sprays of compressed air and that seems to do the trick.

I presume both problems are related. Any ideas as to what the problem is?

    Cheers

Hmm should have searched first - it seems its possible a new CMOS battery that is needed

When you try to start up the pc again, is it still warm from the previous use?
Is the CPU heatsink/fan attached and working correctly?

That sounds unusual and ominous. I would check that everything is assembled properly. Has the computer been moved around lately? Re-seat the RAM, check the connections, etc.

A CMOS Reset is also probably in order.

Cheers - I had problems with the CPU overheating in the past but I sorted that out. I got a new CMOS battery I'll see if that helps.

Sounds like the heatsink is dodgy.
