Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Got a FS recently with Continental Speed King tyres..i'm not taking part in a race and these are really bad for XC, i need some tyres with good grip.

    Any recommendations please?

maxxis swampthings 2.5s, savage in the mud and loose trails, seriously hard work on a road or compacted trail tho

Yet another vote for the Ignitor, I am swapping my Mountain King rear for an Ignitor for Djouce in the morning!

i am digging my kenda karma dtc 2.2s. they clear mud and roll well on firm stuff. not the lightest...but neither am I.

another vote for ignitor. they're cheap, roll well, wear well and plenty of grip. I also found nobby nics to be a super tyre. ignitors do measure up quite small though i have a 2.3 on my haredtail and its about the same size as a 2.1 nobby nic.

Mel and I have been both using Schwalbe for the last 2.5 years and love them. I run a 2.1 Rocket Ron on the Front and 2.1 Racing Ralph on the rear (although, for the winter will probably run the 2.25 tires). They roll super fast and give us more that enough grip. We have used them in everything from the slompy of Irish conditions to the bone dry dust fields (with pointy rocks) of Cyprus.

I wrote something about the before here: http://ryansherlock.blogspot.com/2009/10/best-of-2009-schwalbe-tires.html

spot on there. ignitors and nobby nics are the best tyres out there for all year round riding in irish conditions. My preference is 2.1 back 2.25 front, nobby nic that is.
