Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bolton v Liverpool match thread

    Looking forward to this.

A win for Liverpool will ease the pressure slighly on Hodgson and could shoot up the table to the dizzy heights of 11th. With Chelsea next week a win is much needed.

A win for Bolton by 2 or more goals and it's top 5.

    Total football awaits....

Any sort of a win will do, but if we continue our run of good performances ( 2 I think) we should be going home with 3 points - badly needed given our next lge game.
Hopefully the team sheet will not show many - if any - changes.

    The team is unchanged afaik.

Bolton won't fear this Liverpool team one bit.

Lee and Petrov will cause that back line loads of problems.

Lee seems a very good prospect.

And Im hoping that will be their downfall. Complacentcy.

Would be great if we can improve on our performance from Blackburn. Should get something out of this. 1-0 liverpool.

Bolton will cause Liverpool more problems than Blackburn because these days they try to play football. With the back four Liverpool have - strong in the air but lacking in pace - long ball football plays into their hands. The lack of pace in the Bolton forard line could be their undoing.

2-1 Liverpoool, Torres with both. Petrov for Bolton.

You would have thought Blackburns style would have played into Chelsea's hands too, yet they could have quite easily won that game yesterday.

They played well yesyerday granted - they're excellent at Ewood and give everyone a game. They offered nothing at Anfield though and the agricultural back four ye currently field will head long balls away in their sleep.

Strong in the air? Not the Liverpool back four by a long shot.

Carragher is very average in the air as is Skrtel with his 50p head style of heading a ball, and Konchesky is no great shakes. Soto is brilliant in the air alright though.

Am sticking with my 3-1 to the reds prediction from the Liverpool superthread though.:)

    Any confirmed lineup yet?

Liverpool: Reina, Konchesky, Carragher, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Lucas, Meireles, Maxi, Cole, Gerrard, Torres.

Subs: Hansen, Poulsen, Jovanovic, Spearing, Kelly, Shelvey, Ngog.

    Confirmed team for Liverpool anyways:

Liverpool: Reina, Konchesky, Carragher, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel, Lucas, Meireles, Maxi, Cole, Gerrard, Torres. Subs: Hansen, Poulsen, Jovanovic, Spearing, Kelly, Shelvey, Ngog.

    Beat me to it^^.

Three centre mids on the bench is a bit much.
Where is Pacheco? He should be on there over one of Spearing/Shelvey/Poulsen

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Pacheco, like Agger is not a Hogdson type player.

A lot of youth on the bench.

I'm happy to see Shelvey there though, Spearing I'm afraid will never be good enough.

Agger is injured. Pacheco, is no different a player than Joe Cole.

I've a tenner on Paul Robinson to be booked.

Agger was playing when he was fit. He's been injured for a while now.

Don't see Spearing having much of a future at the club myself. But can't be any worse than Poulsen.

RH likes Spearing, he name checked him in pre-season so I think he'll be playing in Europe for as long as we're in it.

Thats a very week bench. I would've liked to see Pacheco on the bench, in place of one of the centre mids.

Why is Martin Hansen on the bench over that Brad Jones lad?

Anyone see the Torres montage thing before the break on Sky? Very good.

Yeah, they do glitz things up alright. Well until you have to watch Big Sam and little pete talking bollocks.

Big Sam and Peter Reid in the studio with Richard Keys.

Just put us out of our misery now!

Roy giving an interview to Sky.

Awaits the new Liverpool fans lynch mob to dissect it and take quotes out of context to suit their agenda.

There's no need, Roy doesn't any help in making a plank out of himself.

"Looks sorta tired, Roy, doesn't he?" - Richard Keys

That's the type of analysis that keeps him in the job. Top work Richard.

It'll be interesting to watch Lee. Rumours we were sniffing around earlier in the year. 40 appearances, 5 goals, 8 assists last year for Bolton. He could add some decent width down our right. At 22 he's the profile of player NESV should be looking at.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,743 ✭✭✭Revolution9

Big Sam talking positively about Liverpool

There you go Purslow, the only clear positive from getting rid of Rafa and appointing Roy.

Great insight by big Sam and Peter Reid....

Martin Petrov out with a hamstring injury.
Phew. Was worried he'd rip Carra a new one.

Prediction: Another 2-1 to Liverpool. Gruesome twosome Gerrard and Torres to score.

Should at least have hit the target anyway.

    Mildly encouraging anyway.

Konchesky providing good service to Cole and he whipped in a good cross there.

Least Torres got into a position to score.

You defense of him is admirable but if he stops making retardedly stupid statements, the dissecting will pretty much completely stop.

    Very late tackle from Konkers.

Only noticing now that Aurelio isn't even on the bench, despite him being currently fit (afaik) yet Martin Kelly is

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,743 ✭✭✭Revolution9

    Great effort.

Hopefully will wake us up a bit
