The only difference would be that there would be less eircom Debt. Given Government enthusism for anything technical, no investment for fibre would have happened. They caused the delay of Digital TV for 10 years and RTE NL hasn't got a cent of Government investment, they had to borrow the money.

I must say that this is a sloppy service. You just have to wait till ISDN service offers comes back in your area.

Returning to this thread after a few weeks, snow, Christmas and all that...

I already have ISDN. I think I may have mentioned somewhere that it's a damn sight more reliable than any "broadband" that I've managed to hook up with in this house.

When my "broadband" goes down I resort to that and also for sending emails because for whatever reason I can't configure my outlook express to send email; only receive it, when connected via 3. (I followed the instructions to change the port no. etc.)

But it is costly. Twice the price of an Eircom line rental. And slow - you can't watch a video clip or use Skype.

Isnt there an external antenna available to boost the signal? Seems internal is never going to work. Im at Newlands Cross Dublin and cant even get a solid 3g signal lock on O2 or meteor inside never mind in Donegal.
