Hi all,

is there anywhere that you can leave all your stuff securely while you go off to loot? I havent found anywhere that i know of which you can use as in the house from megaton etc.

The apartment in Novac. Also there is a brotherhood of steel bunker to the right of the map that you could probably use.

Spoilers:

Novac for a cheap price.
Lucky 38 in Vegas Strip. This becomes your base when you get it, in the sense you can upgrade it, and order companions to return there without you. It is central and well-equipped - clean water and a workbench upgrade.
I would guess the School of Impersonation if you join the Kings after completing their quest chain in Freeside?
The casino in Freeside after completing their quest chains. [Not particularly useful I'd think since you probably would get Lucky 38 room first or soon after, but maybe some paths prevent you from getting it.]

You can have more than one at a time. Aside from storage, sleeping in your own bed restores limb condition and hp [possibly this happens in any bed if hardcore is off?]

Presumably there are others. [I've a feeling I've left one out that I found]

In the meantime, the strong back perk is recommended, especially if you don't find companions early.

If you talk to the guy who runs the shop in the dinosaur he should give you a room there. I think it's the first one at the top of the steps.

Although i wouldn't risk it, i'm pretty sure you can put stuff in any sort of box or wardrobe...as long as you remember where it was.

I've been using the hotel room in novak too, have also been telling my companions to wait there so I keep their perks without risking their safety as when they die on hardcore it's for keeps.

Get ED-E & Boone as companions and they can carry tons of stuff for you.

Finished the game today actually.
I may start over as I slaughtered a few more people than I meant to.

lol thanks for all suggestions, il get a room in novac and dump all there i reckon. Il save before i do in case it somehow disappears, i just want to raid the place.

I have veronica as a companion and loaded her up. I tried to recruit cass last nite and she said i have one to many already? Is she an npc or can you only have one with you at any time?

Can only have one human at a time, just tell veronica we need to seperate and she'll go back to where you found here. Same with all the companions. with cass you'll almost get a quest straight away.

They can carry a lot though.
I'm not having too much trouble keeping ed-e and raoul alive.
ed-e is hard to hit and raoul helpfully runs away if the odds are bad.
I have high dt and hit points though, so I can act as a tank when I need to.
The focus of combat has shifted to protecting them since I gained companions though.

As I said I keep my stuff in a bin. It doesn't seem to be going anywhere so I think you're ok to put your stuff wherever you want.

Some stuff used to go missing on me from the house in Megaton, I found out later what was happening. Two BoS knights where getting in and yoinking stuff they took a liking to. I caught them doing it once and followed them as they did a runner, they ran through mirelurk area's and through Ghoul infested sewers heading back to the city. Bastards.

Yea i remember this, i strolled into my house before in megaton to see him sporting my back water rifle! I cannot think of the BOS characters name, but you met him after you helped save a new member of the BOS in a gunfight with super mutants i think.

Only solution i discovered to solve this problem was when you meet the character that steals your stuff, kill him at first sight, don’t even talk to him, bullet in the head does the job

really? That's brilliant. I never realized NPCs would rob items from your storage.

You can get a key from that oul bat there for free if you do the quest "come fly with me". Alternatively if you've capped her ass yer man in the dino shop will provide a key.

I've started over. I'm spending more time doing side quests.
I'm using the same companions though - ED:E & Boone.

I have Boone dressed in Sexy Nightware a Party Hat and carrying a Rolling Pin.
I may change that when the going gets a bit tougher.

I'm now clearer about who my enemies are.
I saved the powder gangers from the Legion and then killed them all of both factions. :cool:

Brilliant game.
