    Hi
    I've a Netopia 2247 router.
I want to open port 8080.
    I go to
    Expert Mode
    Configure
    Advanced
    NAT

I add a service and enable it...

    Service Name *android
    Protocol TCP
    Global Port Range 8070 - 8090
    Base Host Port 8080

But when I go here to see if port 8080 is open
    http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scan/
    it says its closed

    Any ideas?

    thanks
    m

    Hi

I just set this up on my Netopia router last night :-)

1st Make sure that you're running the latest firmware on your Netopia router.
Logon to Netopia.com find the model number(sticker under the router will tell you this) then update the routers firmware. two important things to note. first make sure you are hard-wired into the router ie CAT5 cable, do not use a wireless connection to do this. second you may have to do an interm update depending on how old the firmware is ie 7.2 then 7.5 then 7.8 etc.

Once you're running the latest firmware you can begin.

you may have to reset you NAT settings
try setting the Global Port Range 8080 - 8080
and the Base Host Port 8080
    then reboot your router!

Also set the firewall to low (mid and high settings will not allow TCP etc)

    hope this helps

    Nick
