I saw them there on Sunday, amazing band. I went on the lash with them after and woke up at home with some young one's number and a copy of the Qu'ran. No recollection how I acquired either.

    Well worth attending!

yep. i'll bring one along for you!

You are actually a legend - if I can bring anything for you, let me know! (except a cake jumper... I've already looked into making this and I don't have a cake tin big enough :()

I'll be the one dressed as a nun :pac:
I'm also taking part in the lovely girls competition...

Are you going to practice walking around traffic cones, or just wing it on the day?

Maybe you could blow up a couple of latex gloves if you're stuck? Otherwise nip into Primark and amputate a couple of the mannequins?

    (I'm joking of course)

What's the name of that pub?? This is an emergency! It was like a f*cking episode of the Hangover, nobody could remember sh*t. I was last seen at the bar downing shots with the manager and barmaid before stumbling off into the night. I know one member of Shane's other band very well so that's how we got in.

Damien Dempsey plays at the London Irish Centre in November ..tickets 15 quid. Like Damien Dempsey but from photos of the LIC it looks too community centre ish for a night time gig (I know it IS exactly that, but just reckon a gig would be better held elsewhere)

If you love the 50's and or are a fan of BTTF please go...despite all the cynicism and negativity, this blew me away last night, worth the money.

All Ireland Run for your County is back on this year.

I posted about it last year but didn't attend. Definitely going this year as I regularly run in Clapham Common and have been looking for a timed 10km for late October.

    Anyone else interested?

    £25 is a bit steep for a 10k!

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,373 ✭✭✭S.M.B.

It is, but you're basically paying Innovation Sports baseline rate of about £15 to participate in one of their events (which I've regularly done this year and can recommend) with the remainder going to Mind Yourself and Irish in Britain, two very worthy organisations.

I was on the verge of signing up for the London Run in the Dark in aid of spinal chord injury research which just happens to have a £25 entry fee too but will opt for the MY/IiB one now instead.

I did one for the British Heart Foundation and it cost me £12.

Did the March one of those in Regents, decent race :)

The BHF is a sizeable charity with a dedicated events team that would specialise in putting on these large scale events. Add in the fact that the £12 entry fee only covers the running of the event and there is an onus on runners to raise money via sponsorship.

It's apples and oran......... smaller mini-sized apples.

Is anyone up for seeing Ballyturk at the National Theatre next Saturday (4 Oct)? If you've not interested in the eduction and cultural enlightenment of the masses, then at least it's got Cillian Murphy in it.

Unfortunately it looks to be almost sold out with just the one date (4 Oct) left. I'll be booking tickets soonish so let me know if anyone is interested. The reviews have been pretty positive.

I saw this when I was back in Dublin in August. It's bat**** crazy but a lot of fun. Recommended.

I'll be fighting my first paid bout in November in Wood Green; there's a good few Irish on the card and it's usually a cracking night of drinking, boxing and colourful language. I'll post more details when I get them!
