do you have static dns entries on the linksys?

it could be that you've got a dodgy dns entry in the router and connecting directly to the modem bypasses this.

try some other dns providers and see if it makes a difference

    level3 dns: 4.2.2.1 thru to 4.2.2.6

or google dns: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

or open dns: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

Thanks for the idea. Tried all those you suggested, using instructions here, but no good I'm afraid, still the same.

Prior to this I had 0 0 0 0 in DNS 1 and DNS 2 on my router.

    What else could I try?

if you have gmail, you can link and import all the emails from hotmail into the gmail site and interface, ive about 4 emails into one email inbox, its rather neat, never liked hotmail for emails of the site, worth a shot if you cant get it to work

Appreciate the tip Al, thank you. To be honest I don't use Hotmail either.. it's the 4 other people in the house who do..

try implementing it into gmail, its really neat when you set it up nice, you can add filters, labels, tabs, keywords with emails and it make it all nice and simple with a nice intuitive interface! ...you can even send recieve and organise fully as you would with hotmail, easy peasy!

and nope i don't work for google!
