Not a hope of him leaving in Jan, although if we dont get top 4 this season, he might be tempted in the summer. I didn't know his agent was Italian.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,395 ✭✭✭Hatch99

Just thinking to myself, his contract runs until 2014, so if he is still with us come the summer of 2012, and he wont sign another contract, you'd nearly have to sell him wouldn't you. That's a lot of if's I know :D

Let's hope we can win some trophies over the next couple of years and make him want to stay

See Mancini has been talking Bale up today. Would be a better option for City than Barry or Johnson so there may be a bid in the summer.

Another good performance from Bale yesterday. He is such a threat and 'out-ball' - he relieves pressure on our defence by offering an out let constantly. My only concern is, and someone mentioned this yesterday, we are becoming quite dependent on him.

I think we well get next season with him, though my outlook is quite bleak beyond that. We'll have to start looking for replacements by this time next year. Though if he keeps playing the way he's playing we should be easily able to get the £50-60m being suggested.

I actually think that he could be the answer to our striking problems. We now have Holtby, and although he primarily plays in behind the striker, that's where Bale could play. Stick Holtby on the left, where he has played quite a bit, Ade up front and Bale in behind him. I know we'd miss out on his crosses, but we're hardly converting them as it is and at least with him through the middle he'd have a few more chances on goal.

Also, it's likely he'd be heavily marked in the middle, leaving the wings less marked. I could imagine AVB looking at a good left winger in the summer and moving Bale into the middle.

I'd be very much interested in giving this a go. I think Adebayor and Bale have a decent friendship off the pitch and I think they could develop a good partnership on the pitch.

I think anybody playing with Bale will get a few extra goals as he's able to stretch defences... so a move inside could really help Adebayor's confidence.

As an aside is anyone else getting worried about the treatment Bale is receiving from opposing players these days?

Yesterday he was the victim of at least three assaults from what I could see. The ref having issued a red card was reticent to issue another and GB fair play to him just got up everytime, except for the time he got a split lip.

If referees don't protect players then what are they for?

I was looking at him yesterday and I could help thinking of how Henry started in midfield and how he was moved to the position he became so known for at around the age Bale is now.

His highlights on MOTD in the central position last night make me think SpurSi could be onto something

    .

I used to think the same, but when you think about it, you can say the same for most good sides, Messi Barca, Ron Madrid, Ibra PSG, RVP United.... if Spurs succeeding this season means we will be over reliant on Bale, I'll still be a happy man.

Adrian Durham on Talksport last night describing us as a one man team really gets my blood boiling. Utter twat.

"If that Arsenal team lose out on CL to a one man Spurs team it's a disgrace"

Short memories; RVP dragged them across the line last year. Really special players swing the game in their teams favour at tough times, that's what Gareth has done for us in the last few games.

As for holding on to him; in reality there are about 6 teams that could afford him and about 2 teams that I could see him going to right now. It's likely that PSG and Anzhi would meet the £60m asking price but unlikely he would go there when Barce and Madrid would love to have him.

Whilst I would loathe to lose him, imagine Bale on the left and Cristiano on the right!

I think Levy would treat it the same as Modric, as in he wouldn't sell to an English club. He defo wouldn't go to Anzhi, so that leaves the other 3. PSG could be an option, especially if they start to progress in the CL, and the chances are they would pay more than Madrid or Barca. Barca don't normally tend to pay mega money for fellas without including a player exchange. Madrid would be the obvious choice, but would he want to be part of that circus ?

In the ideal world, we qualify for the CL, new stadium kicks off and he decides he would like to be a part of it :D

I think it's already been discussed and perhaps prepared. Spurs have a partnership deal with Real, expect someone in return with cash.

Talksport is a bloody awful load of tosh. theyre really quite clueless and biased about everything. The journalism is shocking. It's only good for when they're not serious at all.

It really is one of the worst places to visit for a Spurs supporter as they're incredibly anti spurs.

I've unfollowed anything to do with them on twitter as the trail of rubbish from talksportdrive the past few days threw me over the edge. I mean at one point he claimed Harry Redknapp was the sole reason Bale is as good as he is now. The guy hadnt a clue just how Bales form started! He was almost bloody sold to Nottingham Forest thanks to Redknapp...

Sorry little bit of a rant but talksport is more like talk****e...

    Fair point.

I really hope he stays on for one more season... obviously, we'd need to be in the Champions League.

With AVB in control and the new TV money (£40m) plus the CL money (£40m) we could put together a very strong team. Maybe he'd stay for a few more seasons... :)

Not to mention the world class training facilities...

As ever securing a top 4 finish is crucial.

These articles about Bale going to he sold from Goal.com and talk****e are just from people wanting to uphease him during an important period of the season. Adrian Durham is an Arsenal fan so yeh...

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,153 ✭✭✭everdead.ie

Talksport is hilarious these were the guys who predicted HArry would take QPR to finish above us this season.

These are the guys who think Andy Carroll > Ade.

Wouldn't lose a shed of sleep over what they think it's all about keeping the listener numbers up and Spurs fans fall for it hook line and sinker.

I dont think theres any chance well be losing him this summer.

There will be loads of speculation of course but suitors will be hoping Levy is talking crap when he asks for 70 million.

And then they realise that hes being serious and doing similar with berbatov and modric with his pricetag

I wonder would Luka come back to us as part of any deal in 2014?

I wouldn't want him to be honest. As soon as a player stats this refusing to play s*** I'm out.

    Another great performance from bale.

The commentator summed it up when he said at the end.
What a privilege it was to watch this young man today

I love hearing supporters of other clubs talk down about him, absolute joy to watch him in a Tottenham jersey.

Possibly our best player since Paul Gascoigne ?

He is the best since Paul, it would be near impossible for any club to finance a deal for Bale under the new rules. Levy will ask for a Ronaldo type fee.

He just won BBC motd2 goal of the month comp too! I love this guy.

he is certainly our most dynamic and effective player in a long time.

his power and pace are pretty awesome and he can put serious power in his shots

Yeah it's his best season alright. He's flying and looks to be really enjoying himself, which is great. It's also vital as nobody else seems to be able to score for us at the moment!!
